Windows lets you take a screenshot of the entire screen by hitting the PrintScreen (or PrntScrn, different keyboards display it differently) key.

To take a screenshot only of the active application (the one you're currently using, the web browser for example), you hold down the Ctrl key and hit the PrintScreen key.

In either case, after you do this the image will be in the clipboard, and you can then Paste the image into a program like Word, or an image editing program like Paint or Photoshop and manipulate it.

Taking a screenshot actually depends on the type of your keyboard. If you have an old one, you can most probably take the picture on the screen when you press the print screen button. If you have a laptop, you should try a combination which generally consists of two buttons - one Fn , and the other is prtscrn. Fn's name may change in different laptops.( I have never used another larger company's product other than Hp's, so I'm not sure of this statement.lol)

First, use Fn and then prntscrn. Second, run mspaint and press ctrl + v. There you have it!

The "control" button will not work on laptops, so do not use it. If you wish to get many pictures easily, I strongly suggest you download a program written to help make it more useful to get the picture on your screen. With this kind of programs, you can get as many pictures as you want by pressing only one button. The program will then store the pictures on your hard drive, and you will never need other programs like paint.

While holding down the Ctrl key press the Prt Scr key. This puts the screen image into your computer just as 'Copy' would do. Then open up your favorite graphics program ...or MS Paint, and paste it there by once again holding down the Ctrl key press the 'V' key.

Your image should then load into your graphic program. Save it as whatever, then print it.

PS....eewwww I see Zoplax was already answering your question with the same advice. HA! great minds think alike ...hey Zoplax!

print screen puts whatever is on the screen onto the clipboard so if you go into a program such as paint you can paste it into there

this may not work in some games but usually you just hit print screen and sometimes they have their screen shot button on F12

prt scr is the correct button but then you have to go into something like Microsoft Word and hit ctrl and V or do an edit - paste.

All prt scr does is copy the image. You then have to paste it into something to see it.
