First: find the increase
= 63 - 22 = 41

Second: find the increase as a fraction of the original number
41/22

Third: multiply by 100 to get %
41/22 * 100 = 186.4%

100% of 22 is 22 200% would be 44 300% would be 66

so 63 would be almost 300%

63-44=19
19 is 86% of 22 (19/22) actually 86.3636
so 63 is 286% of 22 the percent of increase is 186% Check it by multiplying 22 by the percentage 22 x 2.863636 =62.999992

should be close enough

The final amount is 63. The original amount was 22. So the increase is 63 - 22 = 41. So the percentage of the increase is the amount of the increase by the original value so:
41/22=1.8 63 63... If you want the percentage in % you multiply by 100.
So the percentage of the increase is 186.36 36... %

There's a formula but let's do it just in conversation.

First you find the AMOUNT of change.

We went from 22 to 63 so that an increase of 41. Right away you can see that it's more than doubled so the increase is going to be more than 100%. In fact, an increas of 44 is 200% so you have in your head the magnitude of the increase, just by inspeciton.

Now divide the original number into the amount of increase and multiply by 100 = 186.3636%

Just think differently. First of all, what is the increase. Increase is from 22 to 63. Means 63-22 = 41.

If you want to express it as increase w.r.to original, you devide the increase by the original. That is 41/22 = 1.8636.

To express it as percentage, multiply by 100 and add a % sign. Gives you 186.36%

Subtract 22 from 63: 63 - 22 = 41

Divide result by 22: 41/22 = 1.8636 approximately

Multiply result by 100% : 1.8636*100% = 186.36% increase

percent of change is difference between new and old divided by old (very important not to divide by new) then times 100 to change from ratio to percent

If you have a percent key on your calculator, it will do the multiply by 100 step for you.

100*(new - old)/old
100* (63 - 22) / 22
100 * 41 / 22
186.4%

First find the increase by taking the difference of the two numbers.

Then divide the increase by the first number, the base number, and you'll get the %.

In your example, 63-22 = 41
41/22 = 1.864 (rounded)
move decimal 2 places = 186.4%

that's it! :)
