Thank you for the help you given them in the past year? Or you don't care?

Not bitter but it is disheartening seeing other co workers who didn't do as much to help out others be rewarded while those who did go that extra mile don't even as much be aknowledged or even given as much as a thank you.

One year a girl gave everyone else a Christmas card on our team except for me. And I sat right next to her and would talk to her regularly. I was slighted by it, but I figured that just showed her true colors, and I didn't want to have even casual acquaintances like that, so I pretty much stopped talking to her except to be civil or if it were work-related stuff.
She eventually quit, and I went on to work in a totally different department. I saw her years later in a doctor's office and I know she recognized me, but she didn't even say hello. I made it clear by looking at her that I recognized her, but I didn't say anything either. I think it was understood that I didn't want to know her either if she didn't want to know me.

Not at all. Co-workers are co-workers and not friends. If some of them are friends then you all make the choice, if you want to or not. Does that mean you send gifts to your whole extended family? Aunts, nieces, uncles, cousins, your mothers' sister's husbands' nephew? etc etc. Gotta draw the line some where.

They make as little as I do, I don't expect them to be able to afford a gift for me. I make everyone cookies as a gift, and my boss gives me a big gift. But I don't exchange with anyone outside of my department.

I don't expect anything from any coworkers. I don't even expect a Christmas bonus from my employer (as I'm not allowed to accept anyway).

Bitter anyone?
Maybe they're all just Scrooges and don't give a crap either way. Who cares.
Merry Christmas

No. I don't expect anything from my co-workers. But they truly surprised me this year. :)
