Guys tend to love their stuff. They can tell you the specs of their cars, video gaming systems, bigscreen TV, etc. Shouldn't he know his wife's/girlfriend's specs, too? Her clothing sizes, what she likes and doesn't like, etc. I'm not saying he should lose sight that she's a human being but is it bad for a guy to appreciate her physically among the other things he enjoys in life?

It's not about ownership. It's just about being proud of his girl like he would be of the things in the example.

The brief answer to the first line of your question is yes - to possess someone implies slavery! (Human beings should never be owned)
However it is quite usual and very thoughtful to have as much knowledge about ones spouse/partner as possible.
As well as enjoying each others "physicality" it is even more important to explore, know and enjoy sharing each others, thoughts. philosophies and mental characteristics. Don't you think?

Possession..... We are not in the 1800's. Sure you can be proud and apreciate how she looks. But she is not YOUR possession. She a human being. She has her own thoughts and wishs. Sure brag to your friends about how hot your g/f is but dont think of her as a possession.

He is entitled (and probably correct) to think of her as one of the best and most prized "things" in his life but thing as in "you are the best thing that happened to me" not "you are the best thing I own".

In other words, you cannot own another person, so they cannot be a possession.

one man thought of me as his "possesion"...I dispossed him rather swiftly. Think of a woman as a possesion and she is no longer a person, she is an object.
