Clive Stafford Smith is a hero and one decent human being

this man fights injustice all over the world, including fighting for the release of every man and child in Guantanamo Bay and
for people on shaky convictions that are on Death Row

Id like to shake his hand

In this world full of scum like Tony Blair, George Bush, and
Ehud Olmert, thank God we have men of stature working for
the ordinary man in the street

Clive Stafford Smith , a man not after legacies or book deals

Lawyers do get bad press, no doubt about that. Whether or not it is justified is another matter. Usually they are blamed for lawsuits and other legal irritations, but often you'll get them defending innocent people. Its how the world is.

Just one thing though, Tony Blair is not really scum. He's a smart guy who made some bad decisions. People seem to forget a lot of good that he did before the whole Iraq malarkey. But what do I know, I rarely take interest in such matters.

some lawyers deserve a bad press -

they represent evil and wicked people (for huge sums of money) and these people get off with their crimes

how many children are there in Guantanamo bay?

so - none of the people held are guilty of anything then?

bias bias bias

surprise surprise surprise

no chance of a bit of balance then in your reporting?

by the way, the ordinary man on the street doesn't usually find himself in Guantanamo bay - not unless he was on 'holiday' in a war zone....

edit

are you sure about the book deal?

reported - clearly you don't like any opposing viewpoints

Yes i suppose they do,but i am slightly perturbed by the ammount of scum left of your list. But then whats the point, blinkers are blinkers, opening your eyes is one thing, having the ability to rotate your head is another.

To the extent lawyers get a press (I think most of their work goes unnoticed), I agree it tends to be bad. We do not see the extent of the pro-bono work they do nor the injustices they prevent. In general, we see only what makes good headlines and that is not representative of the profession.

It's the 99% of lawyers that give the rest a bad name.

Just Kidding.

I agree. "Habeas Corpus" isn't just a funny sounding word!
