A program such as "Partition Magic" can do the job.

You can actually have XP partition the drive however you want, but make sure you do it right from the start, because with XP itself to change the partition sizes, you'll have to reformat the entire drive and start from scratch. To change the size of partitions "on the fly," you'll need a third party program, and they can be quite expen$ive.

If you're running Vista, I haven't a clue...I'm avoiding it as long as possible! lol

If I understand the question right, to get one hard drive to appear as two seperate drives you will have to use some form of partitioning software. You would then partition the drive into two seperate logical partitions.

You use Acronis Disk Director for separating your hard disk into two drives. I've been using it for my needs and it really works wonders

it is called partitioning. u can user windows (xp or vista), linux or partition magic to partition your hdd
