Danger! Call for a tow or check the master cylinder first to see if it is out of brake fluid. If it is out, it will have air in it and the brakes will FAIL!!! Tow is the answer.
Check the fluid under the car. Regular oil that may be leaking from a myriad of causes, smells like oil. Brake fluid has a distinct smell and may be tinted with a color dye, but not always. Brakes low mean pads are out, or no fluid. So again; the best choice is "Do Not Drive it!"
Warning signs that the Master Cylinder may be bad are; visual inspection of a leaking or a broken line or sensor attachment gone bad.
Check to see under which wheel the puddle is appearing. You may have a wheel cylinder leaking and draining all of the brake fluid. This will result in damaging the brakes. So new brake pads or shoes will be necessary too! Do Not Drive it!
Warning signal? If the brakes fail( presuming the light or sensor is not broken,) you should get a warning signal. It may be too late when it comes on and it may result in a preventable crash. Think about the liability; if you only had it towed!

Master cylinders almost never go bad on any car, so I wouldn't worry about it, unless you have a braking problem. If you have a spongy brake pedal, you may should have the brakes bled. Excessive heat from hard, frequent braking could cause brake fluid to boil and create air in your lines, which is more likely than a bad master cylinder.

You may experience low brake pressure, your brake fluid levels with continually be low, and you may even find a small spot on the driveway. If you have ABS brakes then the warning light should come on. Good luck.

brake fluid on your driveway may be aleak as well in a line. signs of a bad master are--stepping on pedal and it slowly fades to floor. pump it up and it still falls. i would be more worried about the leak. the master can leak from a rear seal but you would see it on the firewall below it. brake light would be on in the dash.

Usely when your master cylinder goes your pedal gets lower and lower, but also it might be high and when you press the pedal and hold it, it moves down as your holding it. OR when the pedal goes down and you have to pump it like a mad man to stop.

problems like those is why I not restore automobiles, areas failure are transforming into too worry-loose, I recommend to get a reimbursement and purchase a different kind. possibly even a broking rebuild. I easily have had to interchange areas various circumstances in a row and located this to be in basic terms adverse production. good luck.
