I notice a lot of people ask 'regionally specific' questions and dont bother to put what country they are in.

anyway, the UK position is that prostitution is LEGAL
soliciting and running a disorderly house (brothel) are illegal
also pimping is illegal and a male living off of a prostitute's earnings - even if he is not directly pimping

In the US, there are different laws dependant on what state you are in

In Saudi arabia, prostitution is punishable by the death penalty.

prostitution is not illegal but every big city and even our small towns advertise prostitution weather its on tv,newspaper, ads online etc. why is that? the only place prostitutuion is legal is vegas the prostitution company will actually pick you up in a limo from your hotel location but you need to find a way back or else you might get buried in one of those desert holes

I think it should be legal, It is no different then some one having a one night stand because someone bought you a few drinks. And as far as heath issue, If they made it legal and were able to monitor them as they do in Nevada, enforce the use of condoms then it would be just as safe if not safer then picking someone up at the bar. You don't know what thay might have either but that doesn't stop the majority from having one night stands.

It's a common mistake. If a woman meets a guy in a bar and goes home with him, then asks for cash in return for sex, it's a mutual agreement between them.
So for example, if a man meets a girl in a bar, buys her a few drinks, maybe something to eat, then she sleeps with him, it could be argued that he paid for it, so paying for sex cannot be illegal.
However, standing in the street soliciting for sex is illegal. Running a brothel is illegal. Advertising is illegal, and pimping is illegal. Various other things as well.

It's not legal in Las Vegas. I think it's legal in 10 counties in Nevada, and no two adjacent counties in Nevada can have legal prostitution.

It depends on where you are, there is somewhere is america where there are legal brothels and of course there is Amsterdam. Some people consider being an "escort" being a prostitute but I suppose that depends on what the escort gives you for the money!!

i think it should be legalized. im high in morals but live in the real world as well. i think it is marketing, and would lower the rape statistic. it people's bodies, why should the government have power over it. but i do see the problems that could arise over it as well. to put an end to my answer, i dont see what the big deal is people are going to do it no matter if it is illegal or legal.

It is soliciting that is illegal, not prostitution. Sex for money between consenting adults is perfectly legal, but touting for such business is a no-no
