I am thinking of buying it for a friend for christmas. Do you think it would be okay if I bought the xbox arcade and let them buy their own hard drive if they want to add it on?

It's a great idea because you're giving them the chance to upgrade it at their own pace and to their exact liking. For example, they can choose to pick a 20GB hard drive or a 120GB one, depending on how many games they'll play. It doesn't beat the premium or the elite bundle, but it's a great deal for those who are just starting off and don't have a whole lot of money.

I'm sure they'll like it since it costs so much.
Happy holidays!

Ya get the arcade beside having the hdmi port for sure they can buy the accessories that they need. You really need the 120gb drive if you're going to do alot of downloading 20gb is not enough. I have to constantly delete stuff because I have movies and games. You can now download and entire game from the marketplace which is over 1gb in size.

You are a great friend to spend that much money on a gift. I would say the arcade version is definitely better than nothing, but the regular version is superior.

You're a really good friend if you're going to spend several hunder dollars for a 360 as a Christmas present. Even if it's the arcade version.

Will you be my friend? ;)
