Never too early to prepare, really. Take a few nightdresses (nothing special, just old ones), dressing gown, slippers, baby clothes, (vests, babygros, some little hats if you have them) and also the two things I was so angry I didn't have with me: sanitary pads and breast pads. Also maternity bras, few changes of clothing like t-shirts and jogging bottoms etc for after the birth. The hospital can help you with some things or if you find you don't have enough things you can pop out and get some maybe? My husband was forever running errands pickng up things for me when I had my daughter!!
Good luck with the pregnancy!

pack a bag now. I went early with my first and was totally unprepared. Mom is in all honesty probably not going to care until after baby is born. Things that would be nice to have along are a bathrobe, socks, toiletries, a camera so you can get tons of pics of baby, mom might want to bring makeup too, I felt so gross after having a baby and then everyone wanted to come visit, it helped when I felt like I looked my best : ) A book or magazine might be nice too, it's hard to sleep in a hospital, even after doing all that work.
Kudos to you for stepping up even when things didn't work out. More should follow your example.
Congratulations to you both!

It never hurts to prepare but I wait until 37 weeks to pack. Bring personal hygiene stuff, pjs, and something comfortable to wear home.
For baby you need clothes, a car seat and pacifier and a bottle or two. The hospital gives you the formula and diapers and everything in babys cart so you dont really need to drag all that out. Dad can bring baby stuff in after the birth. Just keep it handy for the big day.

yes i got mine ready at 30 weeks
here is a list of stuff
• Your birth plan
• Dressing gown -- useful if you end up pacing hospital corridors in early labour
• Slippers
• Socks -- believe it or not, your feet can get cold during labour
• An old nightdress or a T shirt to wear in labour. It might get a bit messy, so don't buy anything specially to wear in hospital.
• Massage oil or lotion if you would like to be massaged during your labour
• Lip balm
• Snacks and drinks for you while you are in labour, or some glucose tablets to keep you going
• Watch with a second hand, to time contractions
• Digital camera or camcorder. If you want to bring a camcorder, check with the hospital beforehand -- not all of them allow them in delivery rooms.
• Relaxation materials: books, magazines, games etc.
• Pictures of someone or something you love (the inspiration you may need to see you through to the end)
• TENS pain relief machine if you are planning to use one
• Toiletries
• Water spray, or a hand-held fan to keep you cool
and here is a usefull link

30 weeks is still pretty early, although women have given birth then. I would wait another 3-4 weeks though. If you would feel better packing now, it's not going to hurt anything.
Just bring the baby's clothing, maybe a blanket or two, and whatever your ex-girlfriend will need to help the process be more comfortable. The hosptial will provide everything else you all will need. Congratulations and good luck.

Always pack like you are going to be staying away from home for a weekend away. Just bring baby clothes & a car seat. And maybe a book or two or some cards or word games.
