On the 6th June 2001 Reuters News reported:

Britain is no longer a world power populated by affable eccentrics, but an isolated, insecure nation unable to care for its people, at least according to European commentators watching this week's general election. Several foreign commentators have seized on the campaign for a close look at Britain's quality of life and role in the world.
'The motherland of democracy and the centre of an empire that spanned a third of the world has become a state on the margins of Europe - with crumbling infrastructure and a standard of living that, experts say, can be compared at best with central Italy, except that the weather is worse'...
Stern magazine wrote. 'Welcome to cool Britannia'. Politicians admit that public health, transport and school education systems are second-rate compared with the EU average.

It could be said that Britain is now being controlled by The most incompetent government ever known and far from being a world power it has disintegrated into a world laughing stock and dumping ground for criminals, drop-outs and benefit cheats. Education is at an all time low Immigration at an all time high, and the quality of life is poor, with overcrowding, housing shortages and substandard health care. The only green fields left in Britain are about to disappear under tons of concrete and people cant afford to buy the houses that are available. While people who in the past did buy houses are finding they were built on flood plains.

The people are now taking second place to profiteering and corrupt practises and have no say in the running of their country. Democracy in Britain is all but dead and a feeling of despondency pervades the land

well people have always put us down. and many have said life is bad in Britain. that has certainly not been my experience. i agree with the guy who says its difficult to find an Englishman in the city's my god i don't think i heard a British accent last time i was in London. not even in Harrods. if things were bad when we were on the margins of Europe, i cant see how they are much better now we are supposedly in the centre. mass immigration, faceless unelected people dictating how we live, young people unable to get on the housing ladder, services such as the nhs and post office totally diluted. very little prospect of a decent job or pension for the young of today. bring back 2001 i would say.
