Base on the answers below I will to ask another question and open this to hear your voices. If you have answered "Is A.I. possible "?"?" then take another 5 minutes to answer my second related question. Please visit my profile for the question "Are we programmed?". Thank you for your answers hope to hear you soon!!!

It is great to hear different voices... I love your points of views especially scythian1950. Personally, I think A.I. is possible but we have to see it in at least two possibility. Biological A.I(if possible one day) and Machine A.I. The most important part of both A.I above is their information. Biological A.I or creatures carries information in their D.N.A. This information transforms them and tells them what their instinct is and who they are. They have more sensors than we can count. This sensors interacts with rest of the other elements around them. Once receive information from sensors store this information in memory. This is one important process learn and store. Biological creatures carry information(D.N.A) all over them selves. However machines have their information store in one place and they might not transform. I think they are more static then the ways of biological creature is. If we know how memory(dynamically) works then they will learn and there they are emotional.

That's purely an argument about the definition of intelligence. Once the original hype of AI faded away, people spent more effort using computers for what they are already good for. The famous Minsky / Papert debates at MIT in the late 1960's covered this. I'd say the answer will gradually get closer to yes, but computers might never create, and computers will never feel pain, appreciate art, or love their mother.

It's not just possible, it's already here. Anytime you play a video game that reacts in different ways according to the moves you make, that's AI. Play the computer game Black and White or Black and White 2. These games are a perfect example of AI. Your creature develops its personality based on the way you treat it. Every time you play, the creature is different.

One of the best examples of commercial AI right now is the Pleo toy that can be found at Sharper Image. This robotic toy dinosaur is born, then raised and nurtured by you, the owner. If you play with it a lot, it will be playful. If you are mean to it, it will be bitter. The robot responds and acts like a real animal but we can all see that it is nothing more than metal and wires.

AI is here to stay. It could someday be manifested into helper robots like those seen in such sci-fi movies as iRobot, but for now, it is mostly seen in commercial games and toys.

Do you think artificial intelligence is possible?
Yes, and we have already some AI made, the thing is to define what exactly AI is. Common people think AI is like Sony from I, Robot or HAL9000 from 2001 Space Odisey; but the real AI that we have is not like that.

NO, IT WONT BE POSSIBLE because we cannot construct a hardware that changes on its own. Just like computers, we can upgrade the program but the built of the hardware and circuitry remains the same.
Neurons of our brains are dynamic depending on the stimuli we encounter.
emulation of hardware may be an answer but execution is still restricted based on the permanent circuitry.

been around for years

they reckon " deep blue " the chess playing super computer from years ago started to make up its own moves

i test mother boards for " super computers "

and the thing that worries me most is that i test a lot of them using liquid nitrogen , at temperatures no human could possibly live at , so if the worst happens and they drop the bomb you can sleep easy knowing that a computer will survive

all the best

Yes it is. In fact they are already up on the market, though not as what we have seen in movies yet. Such as the electronic dog, the human robot asamo and may be there are others which I've never heard of.
