People always come back to the point that all us Europeans were immigrants 300 years ago. True, but back then, there wasn't laws established stating that you had to do this and that in order to be a citizen and work and live here. It amazes me when people say that illegal immigrants are doing anything wrong. Ummm...yes, they are doing something wrong, and illegal. If you're going to have a law, you better enforce it. I have no problem with anybody coming here legally, the more the marrier I say. But when you come to our country illegally, you're breaking our law. Then you come have the nerve to live here and not learn our language. I personally think that is extremely rude and disrespectful. And to all the people that say that if we kicked out all the illegals, our economy would be dead.Actually, the fact that most illegal aliens don't pay taxes, this creates a big burden on all the legal citizens that pay taxes.

Okay, I must say, I think illegal immigrants, for the most part, are really hard workers, I commend them on that. But you know what, why can't they use that same work ethic to become legal American citizens? I'm never going to say they don't work hard, because they do. But why not do it legally?

Amen,
The bottom line is they broke the law, and special favors are not being made for "white collar" American criminals...why are favors being made for ILLEGAL aliens?

If you don't think this has been planned for a long time, then why (for the past few years) does almost every product you buy have instructions in multiple languages? Note that English is the first language, so it was made to be used here. Those jobs that only the "immigrants" will do, would not be low paying if the illegals were not doing them for low pay. Businesses are to blame for a lot of the problem, but business is the ones supporting allowing the inflow and they are the ones with the big bucks. We are sending all our higher paying jobs overseas.

I realize that disagreeing with you is no way to earn a "best answer", but I thought I'd share a little food for thought.

It is practically impossible for most would-be immigrants to become legal here. People willing to risk death to come here by crossing the Rio Grande would, most likely, be willing to do the work required to become legal, if it were that simple.

Another thing to consider is whether illegality is the same as immorality. This one is a no-brainer. It was moral, but illegal, for people to transport slaves to freedom through the Underground Railroad. It is extremely common, but illegal, to exceed the speed limit. If you were driving your sick child to the emergency room you wouldn't worry about speeding. If you had a baby in Mexico, and knew that the child's chances of having a chance to earn a good life--clean water, heated housing, an education, medical care, and the opportunity to turn hard work into substantial rewards--depended on your breaking one law one time, what would you do? To whom is your greatest loyalty?

I also have to say that the argument that there were no laws to break when Europeans immigrated here does not compute. Some locals welcomed the newbies to their territories, but when other locals did not do so, and instead their governments (tribal councils) made clear that Europeans were not welcome and not permitted to move into their territories, the Europeans did not get back on their boats and go back where they came from. They broke the laws of the land they were in by coming and by staying.

besides from your point of view, illegal aliens will not come/enter a country IF the natural born citizens of that country will not hire them for work and pay as low as they can in order that the company will benefit from them. needless to say, illegal people do not come that country to learn the language or respect what the law of that country has, BUT purposely just to earn money for a living to save the lives of their family back in their own country.
*This is our big problem in our company as the Executive Director has the full control of our company and we being Managers are not always heard by our opinions. The Exe.Director is hiring illegal aliens and even go to a specific country (poor countries) to hire these people for illegal working as they don't pay tax, and they don't hesitate being given lowest salary payment. Language is the biggest barrier in work communication and I sometimes don't give a damn care if they do the job well or not as long as I get my share from the company.

Illegals do pay taxes and most do NOT tax advantage of welfare and social services. See what happens when all illegals are gone. Our economy will crumble. People say there are no jobs - untrue, plenty of jobs, just that americans do not want to do the jobs available. However, illegals do and the work harder and better than legal US citizens. How many citizens do you see doing dirty, nasty jobs for minimum wage.
I agree with the language. But our country also prints everything in numerous languages and some states teach children of spanish decent only in spanish which I do not agree with, but the govt says they must, I say teach everyone english, print all in english and no translators for driving tests, etc.

I completly agree with every word you said. I do not have a problem with immigrants, if they are LEGAL. I don't know what the process is to become legal, but it can't be so difficult that millions of people are unwilling to do it. Become legal, learn our language, get a job, and then you can do whatever you want here, and you will not have to live with the constant fear of being arrested and/or deported.

I think its sad to pick on the people who come here illegally. It is companies who hire them who are really making things worse, by paying them almost nothing, and treating them like slaves, while making money off of them.

Which is the worse crime? A person crossing a border, or a person dehumanizing both themselves and those around them by taking advantage of people in need?

Because our President has a problem with vocabulary, he has changed the meaning of illegal. When Bush sees an illegal, he sees a bargain. Ask Bush how many illegals work and worked for him and his father.

i completely agree with you however i must point out that most of the people who i have encountered myself disagree with kicking them out because they know immagrants personally. they get attached--they put a face to the problem and it's hard to just sit there and say we should deport them when you have friends that are here illeagally.

it isn't black and white, but i concure that it is a problem on our economy.
