I have tried many make ups in many years, BE, Neutrogena, Cover girl, physicians formula, and so on, none help my coverage at all. I have dry sensitive and acne prone skin, my nose tends to get shiny and my forehead, i have enlarged pores which i developed after a cystic acne problem which needs to be desperatly covered up. I have tried going to makeup counters and they dont help too much, i need something non comedogenic and all that oil free and i cant keep wasting money on products that make me look to powdery or cakey, HELP =(

Hey Becky,
What I've found is that everyone's skin is different and of course that leads to different regiments of treatment. If you have sensitive skin, most likely it has adverse reactions to any product with benzene derivatives (that was the case with my skin).
I had to go to a dematologist and was prescribed retin A. It worked like a miracle! No pimples, scars gone, no inflammation. For the first three months it dried my face intensely - but I used a paraben free moisturizer. All the products I use are simple, natural, paraben free, sodium laureth free, basically preservative free because these chemicals will clogs your pores and are not natural to your skin's pH.
I found two great lines that work incredibly:
Aubrey Organics - they have regiments for sensitive skin (Vegecol) combo oily (Blue Green Algae and Grapeseed) combo dry (Sea Buckthorn and Cucumber with Ester-C) and a lot others.
If you are looking for something easier to find and a bit better on the wallet Burt's Bees products are also natural and can be found in drugstores.
I also suggest doing a Manuka honey home facial once a week - it's very relaxing and you do it yourself, so it's convenient at your time. Manuka honey can be found at any health food store and should contain a UMF (not too high) to ensure active results. It's an all natural "healing" honey - don't use regular honey, it will irritate your skin.
As for coverup, be careful with the products you put on your face, most contain parabens. Philosophy makes a few good products including The Supernatural, a mineral based foundation that will add some coverage to spots if you have.
I agree that you should drink a lot of water and eat fruits as well. Hope that helps!

I have very sensitive skin as well... I am unable to use anything that contains oil... no lotions, shampoos, body washes, face soaps, makeups. If I do I break out by the end of the day, I hate it! I don't know if this is the same issue you have. I have heard many times that I won't be able to find the great coverage if I use oil-free makeups... but I just have no choice. I now use Lorac oil free liquid foundation. I use Clinique products for cleansing and for moisturizer. Aveda hair products are natural and for the most part avoid any oils that are not natural.

Try Mary Kay makeup. It is a little more expensive but it is totally worth it. I wear Ivory 104 and you have the choice of either getting full or half coverage foundation and powder. It is wonderful! Also, buy the Time Wise set from Mary Kay. It works wonders! They have a face wash that helps acne, eye cream that helps tighten the skin around your eyes, lotions to help keep your skin smooth, this liquid stuff that looks like fingernail polish remover that you dab on pimples that you popped, and acne cream that you put on top of the pimple! I am only 19 but I do this every night and I always get compliments on how nice my completion is!

Some people have problems with minerals. Although they advertise them as pure, some are not as pure as they supposed to be. Try Prescriptives Anywear powder foundation. This covers well and stays on forever. I am very oily and this does not budge. Also, be careful with the moisturizer that you are using. My dermatologist told me not to use any because my skin is oily enough.

There are a few options that you can try. There are lash growth mascaras, but the good quality ones are kind of pricey, sometimes even 150 dollars. Keep trying different mascaras, you may end up finding one that is perfect for you. And last, there are individual eyelashes that you can buy, there are ones that have one to two strands even, so you may be able to get by your mother.

hey becky, i TOTALLY feel you. i used to have acne plus my skin was dry making it hard to cover up or use acne products that dry out my face even more. if yo really want coverage, get rid of shiny forehead, minimize pores, anddd cover up you need to go for the good stuff. i've been to dermatologists and tried a lot of good stuff. fortunately for me my acne wasn't terrible but it was noticeable. . .it went away as i got older (im 19 now). you need to get a good moisturizer. you would think that because of the acne and dry skin you need one that is oil free but that is not the case. . .unless your skin is super sensitive and allergic.

a good face lotion i like is by N..V Perricone M.D and he has a LOT of other stuff for acne that you could try. i like this moisturizer because it is oil free (shouldn't clog pores) and it also helps to refine and minimize your pores. its kind of expensive for a small bottle but if you feel it doesnt work take it back! i usually get it at department stores (like nordstroms or bloomingdales)
http://www.cosmeticamerica.com/pc154.html

i also like DDF sulfur mask for acne (you can find at sephora), Decleor oil (the OIL that you put on your face to reduce redness. doesnt clog pores and smells great. also kills bacteria. wont make you shiny and you can find at sephora). try using pore strips like the ones they sell at CVS for pores (examples, nose por strips by biore.

make sure you wash your face every night! take off your makeup. it's hard to do it EVERY night but if you want to get rid of that acne its a MUST. also try and exfoliate your skin with a good cleanser. you may not need to exfoliate everyday but exfoliatin will get rid of the dead skin cells and generate new healthy ones, plus get rid of bacteria. more importantly, DONT TOUCH YOUR FACE or peel scars! ahhhh ! you spread bacteria which leads to more acne.

if you want good natural masks for your face i've found that they work WONDERS. also, start taking vitamins, eating more fruit, drinking more water, and exercising if you aren't already doing so. these things help clean out your inside which, in time, will show on the outside.

if you want some natural/home made masks i suggest checking out

xanga.com/ricebunny

look on the left for her aspirin mask (ITS GREAT) and also her olive oil scrub! you don't need to be a user to read how to use the masks.

as for coverup try using a liquid foundation and settle it with powder. it's hard to look goood with coverup when skin is so dry. go to the professionals and don't use stuff like physicians formula or cover girl. i used chanel over the years (yeah its expensive but worth it and made from better stuff). or maybe you can try m-a-c foundation stick. let me know if this helps! if not, i can give you more tips.

good luck to you and i hope this all helped! :)

don't try bare minerals. Seriously, I have skin like you and it will not be worth your money.
