i have a 1992 Dodge Spirit with a 4Cyl 2.5L motor and a 3 speed auto trans. with only 84,000 orig miles. and just a few nights ago i was driveing down the road and everything was fine then out of the blue it starting runing ruff like miss fireing when you rev it up it runing more ruffer so i started driveing it home its like a 35 min drive and all the gauges was find intell i got like 1 mile away from my house then the temp gauge went up close to hot and i tryed turning the heater on but it only blows cool air out now. Any one got any idea's?

just replaced the thermostate about 2 months ago and last time it had a tune up was when it had like80,000 miles on it keep the idea's comeing please

sounds like maybe your head gasket went bad.try doing a compression test.if your head gasket is bad you should have low compression on one cylinder.

Well with the heat issue it sounds like it may be the thermostat... that really shouldn't make it run ruff though... usally what makes it run ruff is a miss fire from a spark plug... the spark plug wires are bad... vaccum leak... EGR valve... all kinds of things lol. I would start small and check your hoses. I believe the heating may be the thermostat though or the sensor.

maybe a head gasket-----check the coolant level---
is there smoke coming out the tailpipe---

if the head gasket is blown--it is possible your coolant has seeped into another part of the engine--this could explain the overheating---the rough ride is of course the gasket itself allowing foreign material to get in different parts of the engine

5 days? Start it and drive it. 5 days isn't long enough to cause any problems associated with being parked.

1 bad thermostate....2.needs tune up,,,

Sounds like you leaked all you anti-freeze, and you'll need another thermstat.
