Artificial. I used to go with the live trees but you always have to fill them with water and the prickly things would get all over the carpet. It just wasn't worth the trouble.
Now my Artificial tree has three parts and lights connected to it
1 2 3 easy.

Artificial - I bought it for $10 after Christmas 4 years ago. It's easier than the live tree. We don't have to water it. We don't have to pay for it every year. We don't have to clean up all the needles and haul it out to the curb.

The kids talked me into this MONSTER tree. We have a 20 foot ceiling and I had to cut 6 feet off just to fit this sucker! It's fallen over twice already! Next year we are getting a Charlie Brown Christmas tree!

We used to continuously get a actual tree, for the comparable reason - no longer something like the scent of pine. although - needles all over the carpet, cats who like to drink the piney water contained in the tree holder; oh and the tree holder - getting it in! the classic purple-confronted steam-from-ears-issuing 4-letter-word-inducing magic of having the tree trunk into the wobbly plastic holder... Plus the cost each and every 365 days - a minimum of $25 a pop for a medium tree in this neck of the woods, with the intention to communicate. So whilst our young toddlers have been little (and our cats too) we've been given a pretend tree and - on your funds, rigidity-unfastened, carpet-friendly, cat-resistant (they ised to climb the actual one, yet no longer the pretend). Spend somewhat greater on some solid-high quality pine incense, and additionally you're solid to pass!
