I say he's a danger to his fellow players and should be banned. I don't care that he's a "great guy" or that he has issues off the ice. He has issues ON the ice. He's a menace.

No, it's not long enough. He should be banned. How many times does he need to be suspended? He already has six under his belt, the last one within the last nine months.

Seriously. 55 games of total suspension IN LESS THAN A YEAR. This is yet another sign of Bettman's weakness as a commisioner. If he wants to keep his job and the .5% approval rating he has, Simon should be banned. Not to mention Todd Bertuzzi as well.

The NHL is not serious about getting the nasty stuff out of the game. They will wring their hands and act disgusted, but they feel fighting puts bums in seats. Maybe there's a difference between fighting and what Simon did, but he's one of the guys who does the fighting that keeps the groundlings entertained. Therefore Simon will be back for the big grudge rematch.

He would be banned, if it were a different victim of his attack.
But this was Jarkko Ruutu he stomped on. That doofus had it coming for a long, long time.
I shed no tear for Jarkko. I can understand COMPLETELY why Simon did what he did.
I don't agree with it, but I understand completely.

No, he should be hung upside down from a pine tree by his cajones, then whipped, stoned and set ablaze. And if he survived that, rack him and give him a "cleansing", then have him drawn and quartered until he begs for mercy and vows his alliegance to the king.
