they did a complete study on it on our local chanel 2 news (get Gephardt ) after the study they found that the computer adjusted for what ever you put in it got the same milage and preformance the fuel additives for cleaning were simular and didnt make enoulf diferance to warent the extra 20 cents

it does make a diferance if you drive an older car that isnt computer controled and or has a carburator thease wernt built after 1990 in the usa
just buy a fuel injection cleaner every 5000 miles

so save your cash

i couldent find the story it was around a year ago you can look for it if you want

not really. most cars are set up for 87 octane. the higher octane doesn't really give you better gas mile-age, or horsepower unless your owners manual calls for a higher octane. otherwise it just cost you more. if you go to the auto store you can buy a bottle of injector cleaner that you dump in your tank about once a month to help keep your injectors clean

while Carl S is right, I've noticed that my gas mileage is better and performance is better. When I use regular 89 octane I get an engine knock if I'm too hard on it or it's hot outside. I find it worth the extra 20cents a gallon for the increased mileage. When you press on the gas the computer wants to get your vehicle at the speed you want. Whether the computer uses more air or gas depends on the pressure you put on the pedal. When I use higher octane fuel the computer needs less of it to get the power my gas pedal is asking for, there by increasing gas mileage.

I have a new car, and I don't use premium- it still runs like a dream! I do however keep the maintenance up on it- that is why I can't afford premium gasoline these days! I would use an additive when needed, but make sure it is something that guarantees not to fry your oxygen sensor. A lot of those additives do. Also, don't forget to keep it maintained! Hope this helps. :)

It shouldnt. Your car's engine is pro-rated for a specific type of gas. The only difference between high and low octane fuel is the pressure at which it combusts within your pistons. If your car is rated for low octane and you put in high, the only thing you'll get out of it is a $0.20 additional fee for every gallon you put in. If you go the opposite way, you may end up having "engine knock" which is a byproduct of incomplete combustion within the pistons themselves.

Enjoy

No it wont help the engine in any way . It's only worth using it if you have a high performance car with a turbo. Use premium then as it will give you slightly more power.

Im affraid you are all wrong....premium gas will help burn out carbon build up in your engine. itt contains additives, plus the higher octane rating will burn cleaner...........the disapointing part would be that you would have to fill up with premium gas about ever other tank full to see the difference.
