Probably for the same reason every Brit I've ever met has had horrible teeth. They don't care. they're too lazy to care about their own appearance.

I am American and not fat at all I am in very good shape and understand nutrition. I have lived in Italy for a bit and I learned a lot of the EU. The reason for Europeans not being as "fat" is the food you eat. In the US we eat a lot of artificial crap. A lot of things we buy at the store are not good quality. People in Europe are just as inactive as they are active here in the US so this is not the reason from what I have seen.
All nations have egos where ever you go but just to educate you about America it's important to understand we don't have a culture or an acceptable history. People live in stress and crisis more then other parts of the world. This is because people in the US have a crisis of existence that you don't see in a lot of other places. Our system of government does not work well for the majority of people in fact the only nation that can compare to our inequality and health care gap is Africa.
Here in the US it’s only a good place to live if you have a successful business and have a lot of money. Personally I would live in the EU if I had a lot of money. But with out a doubt the military here is really the only “great” thing every thing else is a crap. Military does not matter to those not in the military so for me I would prefer to live else where as I believe the US will soon have dollar “value” crisis. On top of this democracy is the poorest form of government. Having lived and seen other places in this world and being from the US it shows.
BTW: Italians eat 1000 times more then Americans and yet they are 1000 times less fat then we are. Also they are inactive and seem to enjoy live so much more 100% of the time. We are what we eat the quality of food makes a huge difference.

I think this is definately a sign of the times in the US. Americans are leading increasingly sedentary lifestyles as we move away from a manufacturing-oriented ecomomy and towards a service-oriented economy. Anybody that works on a computer all day is not going to get much exercise.
Also, the act of eating a meal is very different from other parts of the world. The average American's relatively large disposable income causes us to eat out more than most. Since the 70's, portion sizes at most restaurants in the US have been on the increase, the idea that "more is better" has driven restaurant owners to offer larger portions in the hopes of increasing sales. Eating in Europe tends to be more about savoring intense flavor rather than eating to get full. Consequently, European restaurants tend to offer smaller, more intense dishes to their customers.

I hate to tell you this, but fat people really like you. In the USA, see, we have a club for everything and a web page. After seeing your statement, I checked it out and you are right on it as a 'Friend to Fat people'. They even have your address on there! The next time you see a fat person coming, you should run! They only want to sit next to you on the bus, sweating and make underleg noises. Seriously.

How rude you are! Must be something else going on in your life right now to ask such an insulting question...what is it, really? Wife left you? Girlfriend dump you? Look in the mirror? Can't get a job? Can't get any? Whatever your personal problems are, and it sounds like you have MANY, resolve them off the site. Come back when you become civilized.

I don't know but it pisses me off because it causes people like you to assume all americans are fat. These obese people need to understand they aren't only making themselves look bad they are making all of america look bad. I am the exact weight i'm supposed to be and i'm keeping it that way because I love my self enough to take care of my body and not look like some nasty slob. Also i'm not fond of the health risk that come with being a fatty.

I'm 30 yrs old and I have never been fat. I'm probably going to receive a lot of thumbs down from people who don't like the truth, but I think it comes down to laziness and lack of willpower. People want to stuff their faces and sit on the couch in front of the TV most of their lives instead of doing something physical. I don't think it helps that many people have sedentary jobs too.

I would say it is because we have made life so easy for most Americans. Everything being so service oriented, people really never have to leave the house. Also, we have better teeth than Brits and don't have to worry about what we eat giving us toothaches. Also we don't go on fox hunts and eat crumpets with our tea, that probably makes us fatter.

The food is all hormone and chemicals , very little remains of the real natural food properties , and much is just a cocktail of foreign weight enhancing substances

Typical non-American question. I bet you believe all our telephone numbers start with 555, too.
Not everyone is like you, eating and puking, eating and puking to stay skinny.
