Thanksgiving is when the pilgrims landed in America and they made friends with the natives and the natives taught them how to farm and they taught the natives how to make better houses ... they had a big feast and called it thanksgiving ..
Christmas is supposed to be the day that Jesus was born ... and the wise men saw a huge star int he sky and followed it to where Mary and Joseph ( Jesus' earthly parents) were with Jesus ... some bored shepherds saw the star too and followed it ... Mary was a virgin when an angel came and told her that she was going to give birth to God''s son ... so she quickly married her fiance and they had to go to their hometown because the ruler wanted to count people ... well when they got there she was like big .. and all the inns were packed so she had to stay in the stable and Jesus was born in a manger .... there ... that's it ...oh besides Jesus grew up and healed people and saved them from their sins ... but some people hate him and crucified him but he rose again 3 days later and went up to heaven telling everyone that he would be back to take all his children ( people who believe in Jesus and follow him and obey his commands)

I guess it depends on what you celebrate: (lol)plants are not that discerning - they are non- religious too .The common Zygocactus referred to as "Christmas'" cactus is like the poinsettia plant . here in So California. The poinsettia can bloom outdoors in the spring. and my "Christmas" cactus blooms for me again as an "Easter" cactus The key is how many hours of darkness you expose the plant to- so you may note the "equinoxes" of winter and spring that trigger the bloom period.. They don't tolerate drying out too much , nor do they like drafts , otherwise , indoors you can celebrate any holiday you want for this great little jungle cactus . You can regulate the light exposure and have it be any bloom season you want . Have fun experimenting - I love my non- denominational zygocactus!

Thanksgiving is in Nov, whereas Xmas is on dec 25. Christmas is celebrating Christ's birth, and is celebrated worldwide, and thanksgiving is celebrated only by americans, and celebrates the Pilgrims giving thanks for their landing in america and their survival etc.

Christmas originates from the birth of Christ, so its really Jesus birthday, thanks giving is really nothing more than a holiday celebrating the event before the natives would get screwed over, society will have you thinking its to give thanks, but really i don't celebrate it, why be thankful for taking something away from someone, i wouldn't be thankful for that.

One's a religious holiday the other isn't. One you have to brave large crowds at shopping malls to buy meaningless gifts for people you rarely see, the other you just get to eat a crapload of food, watch football, and take a nap.
