In Christianity, why is homosexuality treated as being the worst sin in the world? Is it really the biggest sin in Christianity?

Through history, Christians have used their Bible to legitimize
violence, discrimination and hate: against blacks, against jews, against other believers ... etc and nowadays against homosexuals.

It is fair game to hide oneself behind a Bible to stigmatize others and justify one's own petty prejudices and hate against anyone that is different. It is so easy to say that the Bible expresses a prejudice against Gay people, then you can justify your hate and violence to correct that prejudice. Isn't this the argument every anti-Semite and racist has used for centuries with the devastating consequences and injustice that we all know. Don't these selfrighteous Christians never feel bad about their hate crime?

The Bible does not condemn or stigmatize homosexuality. It is TOTALLY false.

People in Christian churches are totally ignorant about the real truth about homosexuals and homosexuality. Most of them never even read their Bible in full in order to really try and understand what it says. Intellectual honesty and integrity require that all Christians around the world make their judgments towards homosexuality on the basis of a true sincere open-minded knowledge and not just on groundless stupid homophobic feelings and prejudices. Homophobia is the same as racism and any other form of discrimination prejudices. If there is a sin, this is homophobia not homosexuality. And hate is possibly the biggest sin in Christianity as the message of Jesus was only LOVE!

Christianity - most wars this world has seen have started over religion and the narrow minded beliefs and opinions of the church hierarchy. They fear what they don't know and condemn those who don't fear God yet how many thousands of priests have been charged with paedophelia and child molestation.
They need to take a long hard look and re-assess their teachings.
Each person is unique and special no what orientaiton they chose or how they want to live.
To answer your question no homosexuality is not a sin at all let alone the biggest in christianity. The biggest sin in Christianity, i would have thought is not to accept and love people for who they are, not what you think they should be.

No it's not the biggest sin,but it's right up there. The Bible says that it's an abomination to God.In the Bible men were destroyed for trying to have relations with the Angels that were sent to save Lot & his family. There are many other references in the Bible. The biggest sin is blasphemy against the Holy Ghost & the only unforgiven sin.

i think it's more of ignorance and close-mindedness of some people that gives the society the impression that homosexuality is the worst sin in the world. some people just don't understand where the LGBT community comes from. that doesn't make them stupid, though. they're just not well-oriented with the lifestyle that LGBT people tread. and that i think is the greatest challenge of the LGBT community.

One of the things about christians and Homosesxuallity is the fear instilled in them from the story af two cities completely destroyed. They see it as corruption of the body, and who knows maybe some of them aren't paying attention to the part where every sin is an equal and has the potential to get a man some bruises.

I have no idea! I find it to be BS big time!!
I have gay friends who were raised to go to church and all. Their adults now and don't feel they can even go to church!!

I haven't read the bible, but have been told that GOD forgives ALL SIN............now if being gay is a sin, shouldn't they be forgiven??

Homosexuality is not a sin.
People that are straight and bought up to believe that that is the only way for everyone, just get stuck in that rut.
Once they have learned and opened their eyes to the wider world, only then will they bein to understand that there is more to this world than just one way.
Look to the animal kingdom.
they can teach man a few lessons.

I don't think that way.I believe that you are who you are and be happy with that.I like the fact that people are different. If we were all the same things would be very boring.I think murder and rape is at the top of my list.

It's not. It as the same as any other sins against the body which include fornication and adultery. Where the battle starts is where homosexuals deny that their sexual activity is a sin and try to show that the Bible is not against it - which it is.
