WOW! So what? Most of these engagements consist of her been driven to a place, her getting out of the car, being handed some flowers, getting back in the car and going home. Not exactly hard work is it?

That meant that she had official engagements every day of the year + 60 extra ones, so Yes the Queen is worth every penny the tax payer pays, as she is the only thing that is keeping Britian Great.
Once she has gone Britian will dimminish from the world stage and be looked on as a has been.
Sorry to say that, but that is how I feel about the UK these days as nobody respects each other, people jump ques & kids kill each other.
I know that I'll get the thumbs down for my answer!

considering the fact that there hasn't been a King and Queen of england considering the fact that 1694 we don't comprehend. Mary Ii and her co-monarch William III have been the final King and Queen of england, Mary II died in 1694. the present Monarch of the united kingdom is HM Queen Elizabeth II, her consort is PRINCE Philip, the united kingdom would not have a call of King Consort, the Palace won't announce "The King is ineffective" on Prince Philip's dying.

There are only 365 days in a year. But she doesn't have official engagments every day so if it is a normal working year thats 250 days. The average worker gets 20 days holiday a year which takes it too 230 then minus the 8 bank holidays and you have 222. which means she has 1.9 engagments per day. These can be anything from meeting heads of state, opening buildings and parliment. handing out honours and medals. plus the traveling in between each engagement and having to make small talk and speeches..
I think it is fantastic achievment for someone in their 80's to have the energy to do that. If it was my job I think I would struggle.

The Queen has to turn up to these engagements whether she wants to or not, she has to be polite to people that she may dislike intensely and she has to look as though she is enjoying it! How many of us would like to do her job? I would not like it at any price, nor would the majority of population I expect.
