of any instances except maybe the Oakland Raiders that have gangs affiliated with them. You certainly don't hear about rival team fans bringing knives to the games. Why doesn't this happen in the U.S.? Afterall, America is no stranger to gangs?

NFL clubs don't represent religious or ethnic groups the way soccer teams do. I mean, the people in the $500 seats at a NFL game are hardly likely to attack the apposing team's fans for being Catholic or whatever.

A lot of the folks at any major league sports event in the US are either there as part of corporate entertainment or with the family, so they are hardly likely to go hooligan when they are with their boss/client or spouse/child. In Europe the men pay for their own tickets and go with their buddies.

Actually rather then Raiders you should have used the Eagles. Come on the Linc has a built in jail. I'm not sure about the Raiders being THAT bad, they just look like they are. Anyway yeah I have to agree that the religious and culture things are probably the real reason behind it. To be honest I had never thought about that.

ok.. let me get this clear.. Those crazy raiders fans that you see on TV are not gang members. And nobody bring any weapons to a game, cause security at any Stadiums is very tight.Anyway, we've rarely seen fans erupt into the chaos except perhaps, the 10 cents beer night, and Disco Demolition night.. and all of those fans are baseball fans not football fans..

I would argue that soccer has absolutely no competition in Europe and the rest of the world. In the US we have baseball, basketball, hockey, & American football. That's a lot of sports on at the same time. It's hard to be fanatically passionate about multiple teams, let alone sports.

Maybe they see the sporting arenas as "peace" zones. It could just be the case that people go to watch the action on the field, and not cause unnecessary trouble in the stands.

well.....I suppose it is time we start then. That way the Euro soccer nuts will finally accord NFL the respectability of their chosen sport. Lets all get drunk, pick fights, and start mob violence at our favorite football games!
