I was told, by what I now believe is a ridiculous date system, that I was 5 weeks pregnant (last week). I did not experience "implantation bleeding", but the whole time did have menstrual like cramps which I was told were normal. Two days ago I started bleeding and had very slight and small clotting. Went to emergency, they removed clotting from me and said things should be ok, because my cervix was closed, and refered me to an early pregnancy clinic. Still bleeding with slight clotting...went to clinic today and they did a transvaginal scan and said that they couldnt see any pregnancy, but not to worry, because my uterous wall was thick, indicating very early pregnancy or current miscarriage. What the hell! Have any of you had the same? I'm Still bleeding... confused...I no longer feel pregnant... i was so happy and looking foward to our baby... also, how soon after miscarriage is it possible to become pregnant again?
thankyou for reading/answering this.

It's just the way it is that sometimes they cannot identify a pregnancy or confirm a miscarriage right away. It sucks, I know.

Wait another couple of weeks and go back to the clinic. You could easily still be pregnant. Stay hopeful, but cautiously.

If you have miscarried, you can usually start trying right away if you feel emotionally up to the task. Some people need more time to come to terms with the loss, first. It's all up to you, but many people start trying the very next cycle.

Good luck to you.

I had 4 last year. If you are far enough along about 5 to 6 weeks they can do a vaginal ultrasound to see if the embryo is still there. The best way to tell if your still pregnant is to get an HCG test, they will draw blood and tell you your hormone count. (if they didnt do that at the hospital i would be making complaints if i were you) if they did do one you want to know what the count was, get a number. They need to do another test 2 days later to see if the number went up. If the number goes up it still means so far you are still pregnant if it drops it means you miscarried.
Its possible to have bleeding and cramping any time in your pregnancy and the baby be fine, but those are also signs of miscarriage. I wouldnt think the hospital would remove the clotting unless they were removing reminants of a miscarriage, but i wouldnt know that for sure. I would talk to the hospital about your medical file and your visit and ask them exactly what they did and why.
With my miscarriages I got cramping and clotting. The clotting was from me passing the reminances of the fetus, and the cramping was the contractions it was like period cramping but i also had bleeding and cramping with my first one and he was full term and healthy.
Talk to your doctor and get direct answers. If you cant get your doctor to do an hcg test get a new doctor or go to emergency and ask them to do it if you have insurance(emergencys expensive) I had the same problems. I had to find a new doctor in the middle of a miscarriage which is hard to do once you already have been seen, because doctors dont want to take on problems that could possibly become lawsuits.
You dont always need a dnc after a miscarriage it depends on weather you passed all the material or not.

Hey sweetie, I'm sorry you are not having a great first few weeks of pregnancy...

I miscarried last year in week 11 so I was a bit further ahead then you but this is how it went:

I started spotting brown discharge (old blood) at the end of week 10 - my doctor said it was not a problem, "the body is just adjusting to pregnancy" (yeah right)... and to call back if I had any red blood (new blood) or any cramps. I had the brown spotting for about 5 days and then suddenly I had specks of pink/red but no cramps still... I went back to the hospital and they did a vaginal scan where it was confirmed that I was having a miscarriage and that the yolk sack was shrinking. After this I had another 4 days of light bleeding which got heavier but was still lighter than my normal periods. Then the cramps started and they were really bad. I was literally rolled up in a ball on my bed for about four days and hardly moved. Partly because it was really painful, partly because I was in such a terrible state that I could not really face doing anything anyway... On the fourth day I passed a large mass which would be the fetal tissue and then the cramps stopped. I kept bleeding for another week or so. After the bleeding stopped, it took six weeks for my period to return.

As for how soon you can get pregnant again - I wasn't ready to try again for a few months but it is possible to get pregnant straight away. A friend of mine lost her pregnancy in month 7 and got pregnant within 4 weeks... another got pregnant within a couple of weeks of having an ectopic pregnancy. So, anything is possible.

It is not uncommon for them to tell you that they can not confirm a pregnancy at 5 weeks. I went to the doctor to confirm my pregnancy and they did a urine test and blood test, everything confirmed I was 5 weeks pregnant. They also wanted to do an ultrasound and when they did it they couldn't see much. They told me that it was too early to confirm a pregnancy. So if they said that your cervix is closed then that is a good sign. I would call your doctor and tell him that you are really concerned and that you would like him to examine you again soon.

Some women do bleed, like a period, up to the first 4 months of their pregnancy; it happened to a friend of mine. So try not to worry. Really, there is nothing you can do but take care of yourself, take it easy, and hope that everything is ok. Good luck! :)

Sorry hun but I'm not really sure...when I MC I was farther along. But just keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best. There is nothing that you can really do about it but stressing could only make matters worse. As for symptoms...don't even gage it by those. For this one I've had not symptoms and never even felt pregnant until she started kicking...at 4 months. I've been through a MC and a still born...so I know how it feels. Just send your little one all the good thoughts you can and maybe she'll hear you.

i had 2 miscarriages and with both i had alot of cramping and very heavy bleeding!!! you may want to get another opinion because if by some chance you have miscarried you will need a dnc which is a cleaning out. i wish you the best. i hope everything works out for you!!!
