Usually, it is not recommended to give babies rice cereal until they are at least four months of age.
Give your baby's digestive system a little time to mature before introducing solids.

No, just because she is waking up in the night is not a good reason to start offering rice. She needs milk to grow. Lots and lots of milk. All you do by giving her rice this early is to fill her stomach with something she can't digest, so she doesn't feel hungry even though she is short of nutrients. You wouldn't put an inflatable balloon in her stomach so she felt full in order to get a good night's sleep, would you? There's very little difference.
The time to start solids is when she's hungry all the time. _All_ the time. Like when you are breastfeeding her for 3 hours solid every the evening, and she's still sucking hard at the end. At that point, discuss it with the health visitor - some babies do need solids well before the recommended 6 months. But not sleeping through is not a reason to start solids, not unless she's ravenous all the rest of the time as well.
For now, try breastfeeding her more, let her take as long as she likes. And do consult with your health visitor. Lots and lots of people here will tell you just to give her rice, they did it and their kids were fine. Most babies are fine given rice too early. But some aren't. Personally I wouldn't risk it without a qualified medical opinion from someone who's seen your baby.
Edit: every hour day and night? Definitely speak to your health visitor if it's been going on for more than about 3-4 days as your milk supply will have increased by now. She might be one of the ones that's ready early.

She's 12 weeks old. She's waking up at night because she's going through a growth spurt. You might want to ask your doctor for advice regarding silent reflux. Babies appear constantly hungry because the act of eating keeps the stomach acid down, with silent reflux.
It is recommended to wait until 6 months to introduce rice because the fat and calories in breast milk and formula are necessary for growth and brain development. Introducing solids early can lead to obesity, allergies and other ailments, not to mention its a choking hazard.
Talk to your doctor about other reasons your baby is eating every hour.

It's imporant for a year that your baby get most of the nutrition that they need from formula or breast milk. Solids should not be their only source of nutrition. If she is not taking to the milk, try switching formulas. There is nothing wrong with giving her the rice cereal at this age, but make sure she gets a good amount of formula in. Call the Dr. if she still refuses to drink a bottle after you switch formulas!

My daughter is 2 1/2 months old now and she has been on rice cereal since she was 2 weeks old, she never coukd get enough to eat so the pediatrician recommended we put a teaspoon of rice in her bottles. After that she always slept through the night and still does. Good luck.

I hope you mean baby rice cereal.
she doesnt need it this early but if you want to try it dont make it like the directions on the box. Only use a very little bit at first, not enough to clog the nipple and mix it in with the whole bottle of formula. I know its said to be not wise to introduce foods too early. Thats mostly because it can cause allergies and upset stomaches. So be sure if you introduce any food that you introduce them one at a time so if she does show signs that its not setting well with her, then you know what food caused it.
My son was eating solid foods very early on, I made sure i tried only one at a time and that he wasnt having trouble swallowing it. Keep a close eye!!!

No! Too easily able to be inhaled into the lungs. Try a rice based cereal - they're really filling for bubs and just the right texture for them too.
Not sure where you're from, but here (Australia) there is a baby cereal called Farex. It can be made up with breastmilk, formula or regular milk.

It's recommended that you don't feed your baby anything but breast-milk for the first six months. Then you need to start with pureed foods. Rice grains could choke the baby.

My 3 children all started early as they were always crying for more bottles instead of giving them ore bottles i started them on half a tsp of babies cereal a day and eventually 1 tsp etc etc and they seemed full and more content. I check with my local gp and they oked it before i started. If your baby can't stomach it ok and does not swallow it dont offer it till later stage in life.
