I am currently pregnant with my fourth and for me that is very normal!! I don't start gaining weight until the 5th or 6th months and then I just gain and gain! I don't know why, but it happens every time. I do tend to have big babies (8 lbs, 10 lbs. and 7 lbs.(two weeks early)), so that may have something to do with my weight gain later in pregnancy. I don't have any problems getting back to my pre-pregnancy weight (135) a year after having my babies, and I gained 45 pounds with my second child!
Don't let others tell you that you should be concerned about it, the doctor's will let you know if it's something that they should look into.
Good luck!

Um, yeah of course. Gaining only 5 pounds in 2 months is perfectly normal for someone like you. But if a person with a SLOW metabolism would have gained twice as much as from what you are doing - eating nothing but junk and drinking alot of soda.

Yes it's normal...I'm 7 months and I've only gained 2 lbs. But you really have to watch your diet and continue to eat healthy. IF you are dieting or restricting your intake then that's not good...but if you're still eating regularly and the baby's growth is still normal then it's no big deal. You just have to make sure you take your prenatal vitamins and folic acid tablets to give the baby that extra bit. And since you should be going to your OB doctor every month he should of said something before 5 months if he's worried about your gain.

If you are concerned I request that you eat lots of milk products. Scrambled eggs with whole wheat toast is good and have 3 meals a day unless you have morning sickness then I suggest 6 smaller meals a day. Are you starving??? Ice cream with pack on some weight, worked for me but then he was nearly 9 pounds and I screamed for 5 hours every foul word I could think of. Then he was born. An ultrasound will tell you if your new best friend is healthy or not. Happy Christmas.

I am 16 weeks and have lost a few pounds....I wasn't even sick at all during the first 16 weeks. Everyone is different I guess. Right now I am trying to eat moreto gain weight for my next appointment. Don't worry too much about it.....it takes longer for some.

Everyone is different. I'm 5 1/2half months pregnant, and really havent gained that much weight. I still fit into my jeans and my normal clothes. As long as the doctor reassures you that all is fine then dont worry about it. Just eat healthy as well.

Very normal, especially if you had a nausea in your first trimester as you may have lost weight. I am 17 wks pregnant and have "just" tipped the scales with an extra 2lbs and my bump is a decent size and my midwife said not to worry as different people put weight on in different stages of pregnancy.
My sister lost an worrying amount of weight until 20 wks but from 25wks her appetite went crazy and she put weight on very quickly from then on.
Listen to your body, snack little and often if like me you can't handle a full meal. Your body will tell you when it needs to gain weight as your appetite should increase naturally but if you're worried speak to your midwife.

Every body is different. Make sure that you gain enough weight so that the baby is not taking its nourishment from you. If you don't get enough for you and the baby, the baby will take out of your body what it needs and you may end up loosing your teeth, hair, and much more. Make sure you take prenatal vitamins also.
