In some countries, the word BEITZ is used to describe pigmented powder that dissolves in water or alcohol. The resulting liquid is what is called a wood stain. What does Beitz mean in German (or other language) or is it the name of a long gone product?

"Beizen" is the German verb "to stain (wood), cure (leather), and pickle (metal)", and it is also the German noun for "pickle".

So if wood was stained it would be "gebeizt"... I'm thinking that "BEITZ" is a derivation of that verb.
