I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE SAY happy holidays.

"Happy holidays" seems to be a ridiculous American thing. I'm not on holiday over Christmas, I'm working. Wish me a merry Christmas and save the "happy holidays" for when I'm on holiday - if you must.

There is no problem with people of any religion using the word "christmas". Everyone seems to get on perfectly well with Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday without worrying about the Norse gods they are named after. Then there are the Roman gods we have named some of the months after. Easter is named after a Norse goddess too and the Christians happily use it.

Let's abandon the silly "happy holidays". The season is Christmas, the day is Christmas Day. Merry Christmas all!

Merry Christmas
Merry implies drunken wonton behavior, so it's not exactly religiously correct either.

Midwinter has more holidays than any other time of the year...open your eyes to the rest of the world.
