It's an age old story...the younger generation is always less serious then the older generation...the only remedy is age and with age comes wisdom.

I agree with Rhonda and Metal - with age comes wisdom, we hope !!!
Regarding smoking, drugs and other serious vices, deliberate exposure to graphic visual depictions of the potential after/side effects ought to have some preventive value. Keep an eye and be attuned to what your kids are upto, as far as possible. Otherwise, you can only hope (and pray) that your kids do not go down this path.
Being carefree in ones youth is not a crime. As long as youth do not get into drugs, crime or worse, most of them will end up leading fairly responsible lives, sooner or later.

Each one is good for something which nobody else is,we are all unique. One must try to become that only.If that uniqueness is discovered with the help of parents, teachers, society ,very early in our life, say by 9 or 10 years of age, one gets charmed by becoming what one truly is and he would be focused. But it does not happen that way, each one forces the child/youth to become like others who are successful and the youth also start believing that it may be true and eventually gets bored and go astray! There is no substitute to become our true self, there is nothing that gives us peace and prosperity than our true self.If everybody, including the youth, help to become ones true potential only, then, youth would be a great being to look up to, in awe and wonder, by the society. No?

Mistake is not with the youngsters. It is due to the misgiving of the elders. Give some importance to our ethics and traditions. Bring them up as devoted to GOD. Modernisation can be in our physical living but not with our belief. A good Hindu, Or a good christian and a good muslim is the need of the hour.

"All old people kno what it is to be young and ignorant, but not a single young person knows what it is to be old and wise!"
So,let them be.They will become more serious and matured once they grow older.Take a look back in life.Haven't you and your friends become more matured and wiser now, than you were, when young? Same rule applies here. You can do nothing about it,other than giving scoldings or advice(which they detest ofcourse). So,patience is the best medicine.

Loosen up lady. If you can't be carefree and enjoy your youth, what the hell is the point. Sure, I understand that we should live responsibly...however, those students who are so inclined to study each and every weekend are more likely to suffer from stress and anxiety and have a high rate of suicide because they can't deal.

u can never change anybody, dont even try. the ones that are serious about their studies, are the ones that realise the importance it plays in their future. the ones that are not, are not bothered what happens to their future. we can show our children the RIGHT n WRONG. but the decision is THEIRS.........
