I was not intending to take it further but needed the guy to know that it was not acceptable.

He became aggressive I said lets go outside we can sort this out. I ment see the person and confirm not fight. Its Christmas good will to all men.
Anyway he through a punch the first landed but has an exboxer I mange to block the rest and restrain him. I let him go he seemed to have calmed down. However he had lost the top upper teeth in the afray. I backed, off he came at me again hitting me in the mouth this time there was a witness.who heard the commotion had come into the cateen. I was restraining him again. He calmed down and I passed him a towel and.I finished making the coffee I think he caught with an elbow. We av been suspened

Its a close shop I would sooner say come on you were caught with your pants down, either stop doing it or stop getting caught. Which makes for a better work relationship

If this goes to some form of disciplinary hearing then you will need to get ALL your facts right. Trying to remember them when asked about it in xxx days, or weeks, is never a good idea. Write out a complete report, being as honest as you can, which you can use at any subsequent meeting is paramount.

If your colleague is doing the same then you will have some corresponding facts that will tally and hopefully people will see this as a storm in a teacup and that the whole incident was isolated and behind you.

Good luck.

"Let's go outside" does a problem. You should get thing into formal, i.e. asked him to go to your office together.

In fact, when someone told you whosoever leave early, you should ask him to your office in the early morning in the next day. You should ask him whether it was true and understand his difficulties, i.e. be a good coach. Then, you should consult your supervisor about this case and raise the flag of the possibility in firing him.

Now those are too late. You should get a lawyer and go with that lawyer to report this fighting to police. It is a case of assort and can be criminal. If the court sentenced that you are a victim and under a self-defence situation, then you may have your job back.

In fact, you should take some training on leadership or emotional intelligence etc. Try to read the series of Collin's Best Practise

you dont seem to have been very tactful when you talked to the guy plus why would you tell him who told you he left early. I dont think you were a very good team leader and need more experience before you do that position again.
