In 1972, the Miami Dolphins became the only team to ever go undefeated the entire season, going 17-0 after beating Washington in the Super Bowl.
Now, here in 2007, with just two regular season games left, it looks as if the Patriots will go undefeated, & possibly win the Super Bowl & break the record, going 19-0.

I'd like to see them break the Dolphins record. That way all those old men can put their champagne glasses away for good!

The patriots have a good shot at 19-0, but they have a lot of work to do, and the playoffs will be very tough.

Honestly, I hope they go 19-0 if only to shut up ex-convict loudmouth Mercury Morris. I am sick of his arrogant declarations that nobody could be as good as the 1972 Dolphins, even if they win more games. I think all that cocaine he did has damaged his brain.

I am also sick of that Dolphins team celebrating every time an undefeated team goes down. That shows no class.

The record can only be tied. 19-0 is no better than 17-0 because both require winning 100% of available games.

However, I don't think they will tie the record either. I think they will lose in the playoffs, probably in the divisional round.

edit: to those who say 19-0 is better than 17-0 I have a question. Let's say they win 18 in a row. By your logic 18-0 is better than 17-0. Then let's say they lose the Super Bowl. Is the 18-1 better than 17-0? They won more games before being beaten,. "common sense".

Sorry, that doesn't work. 100% = 100%

Well, records are meant to be broken and Patriots are in the best position to break that record than any other teams in the history of NFL. Giants might be the last team that can probably give Patriots their first lost. Why? A Theory: As we discuss this, Peyton Manning is probably coaching and giving advice to his younger brother.

I agree with ozmania. I want the 1972 Dolphins squad to celebrate their achievements in the proper way. Celebrating other teams' misfortunes while they drink their precious champagne is, quite frankly, sickening.

I think they will have a perfect regular season but I'm not sure they can win in it all. The team is built to be an uptempo passing team and if a Noreaster rolls through Foxboro during a playoff game they are in trouble. The Defense is suspect and their running game is dismal. A team like Jax could really cause matchup problems for them.

Hmm, they're not playing the 72 dolphins. they're playing the 2007 dolphins and the 2007 Giants. Of course they're going to.

They've already tied the record. 14 - 0. If they win 1 more game they'll break the record.
