I'm going to be on a panel interviewing for a management position (The person will become my manager) but what are some good questions to ask? At the moment all I'm thinking is 'If you get the position will my holidays increase?' and 'Will you mind if I turn up an hour late everyday?'....Quite why my manager wants me to be on the interview panel I don't know.

I'm not asking the manager if I can apply for the position. It involves more hours and although the pay is more I don't want the grief.

One of the most telling interview questions is... " What is an area you would like to improve? How do you think you can improve it? This question often stumps people.. but provides a sense if the applicant has an " I am perfect" complex if they are unable to answer it. It also gives the interviewer a place to offer opportunities for learning and personal growth to the possible new employee if they are hired.

i think thats wrong that you are interviewing a possible new manager. Ask your boss why and then ask him if you can apply for the position.
