Why does it seem that men (23-33) prefer women skinny despite personality?

men seem to be a lot less accepting of physical flaws than women. you see many more beautiful women with average or less than average looking men than vice versa. men are much more visually stimulated than women.
it's also funny that men prefer a woman who is skinny with a not so attractive face to a woman with a beautiful face with a few extra pounds. it's sad that some people are shallow like this. but ultimately, why would you want to be with someone who thinks like that. you're much better off with someone who has depth and appreciates you for who you are.

Most guys will say its because they arnt attracted to them. Well its intresting that every culture, every time era had a different view of attraction. Some societies think big women are sucessfull some think being a minority is high class. We are constantly changing on our views as a society. Yes personality is most important but the very first thing someone sees isnt personality but what you look like. hope that sheds some light on the subject

A lot of overweight women tend to have self esteem issues I have noticed and there is a lot to be said for one small enough to fit in your lap ! But I have to confess that I find brains attractive in a woman { perverted I know } mainly because sooner or later you stop having sex and what else is there to do but talk ?

Because they are concerned and about being in public with someone who isn't attractive by the media and societies standards.

people in public places can't see a personality but they can see the outside if someone is tall fat skinny short etc. and that is part of what most people are concerned about.

Television, Hollywood, and commercials have brain washed and trained the eyes of the younger people to look for skinny.

Compare the beauties of today to those like Marilyn Monroe, she was 5' 5" and weighed 120 lbs.

Women in those days had a beautiful small waist an nice fuller hips.

Bill Maher once said on his HBO show that magazines and tv tell men what to like, because basically men will be like "ok, I'll do her." Maher commented that it used to be the bigger, bustier woman who looked like she ate alot and men were like "ok, I'll hump her" now it's the skinny chick and men are like "ok, I'll hump her". Yeah, I know he's a comedian but there are societal trends and right now skinny is viewed as the holy grail of beauty, and I think it also might be because skinny is kinda different right now, because most women aren't skinny.

I'm 25, and it's because I have to be attracted to her. I'm just not attracted to overweight women. Personality is important, but the physical attraction has to be there for the relationship to work.
