you should definitely call your doctor when you are concerned about something irregular like this. however, it is common for women to have irregular periods for a while after giving birth. you fit in this category as you have a seven month old son.

Well, a sudden change in your cycle CAN be from a pregnancy- often a failed one (a large % are discharged or reabsorbed before we are aware). But It can also be from other alterations in your hormones. If you were recently started on a new type of birth control, if you have an IUD, if you're on Depo... those can all cause abnormalities in your cycle. Spotting isn't an indicator of pregnancy. Often having a period is a sign of quite the opposite.
You have a young son, and I don't know if you breast feed but if you do that can also alter your cycle. Some women go without for the entire duration, others are late to get it back. (My mom was without 2 years while she nursed my little bro). Don't be under the assumption you can't get pregnant though- you most certainly can! I've met women with children 11 months apart. Not fun.
If you suspect best thing to do is take a test. False negatives are more common that false positives- so take one now and if you aren't satisfied with the result wait 1-2 weeks and take it again (since they often come with 2 anyway). You can always talk to your Doc, too.
I personally don't think this is a red flag for pregnancy but if you've been having unprotected sex then a little investigation couldn't hurt. If it were me- I'd just see what happens for a couple weeks or so, but if truly concerned- always call your doctor. Never hurts to ask.
Good luck and Merry Christmas!

You have a 7 month old, so your body is still in flux hormonally from that pregnancy. You should call your doctor in the morning to talk about it, at least with the nurse. Your menstral cycle takes awhile to even back out after the hormone hurricane of pregnancy and breast feeding. Did you recently stop breastfeeding? That'll change your balances as well. It's possible you could be pregnant, but that's not what this sounds like to me. Call your doctor.

This happened to me in October. I had 2 periods. It ended up being from my birth control. Everything was fine. But still call your Doctor or a local clinic.

Sounds like you are, try a pregnancy test or go see a doctor, it could be more serious than you think.
