A big fat F
Here are some thoughts.....most of you won't like them though.
Today, untold numbers of us have learned to hate America. In our absurdly expensive colleges, teaching contempt for America is absurdly normal. You have no idea how many Ward Churchills are out there, poisoning your kids' minds.
Then there's the antiwar movement, which of course includes some sincere people who think the war was a mistake. But most prominent are those who openly express a visceral hatred – not just for the president or his administration – but for America herself. Cindy Sheehan, so revered by the news media, said of America, and I quote: "This country is not worth dying for."
The leaders and organizers of these demonstrations, are groups openly aligned with terrorist and communist regimes. Groups like ANSWER to name one. ANSWER is just a front group for the ultra-leftist Workers World Party, which enthusiastically supports North Korea and other dangerous, wacko regimes, and even worse – supports the courageous "Iraqi resistance" who are killing our troops in Iraq.
But anti-Americanism is just one troubling behavior. Today, millions of Americans have embraced all sorts of beliefs and behaviors that would have horrified their parents' generation – in fact, would have shocked the heck out of every generation of Americans since the Declaration of Independence was signed.
Seems to me that quite a few people have stopped thinking for themselves. The trendy thing to do nowadays is to debate the issues. Don't fool yourself, its not a debate people want, its agreement and desensitization.

the 110th congress in 2007 was when they came to a majority, but the majority was very very small. The 111th congress was when the Democrats are now holding a Super Majority. 58 Democrats in the Senate, and 40 Republicans. In the house -- 255 Democrats, 178 Republicans. If Republicans gain the max possible amount of seats, and don't lose 1 seat for next year, they still won't have majority. Which doesn't matter to me because, Republicans and Democrats are pretty much the same now. Both parties can no longer resist ear markings, and big spending and bigger government.

I can't give them a grade, because they barely hold a majority.
As far as ending the war; it's not their fault they haven't done it. They're isn't enough of them yet to end it. Democrats have one more seat in the Senate and a dozen or so in the House. That isn't much. So they can't over ride a veto or break a filibuster.
All I know is that this Congress is actually getting things done. The Republican Congress only worked three days a week, and that was only to pass more pork. This Congress works, and is actually getting things done, unlike the previous Congress.
I think if you had more rational minded (not necessarily Democrat) people in Congress, we could end this war, and things would be good. But until then, you have to look at the smaller things, too.

On ending the war, a D-. They did make some feeble attempts knowing they would not succeed, so I will not give a failing grade.
At least they managed to cut the runaway Republican pork spending that was passing The Presidents desk with a wink and a "Thank you sir, may I have another".

Speaker D-Nancy Pelosi said she would make sure to reduce if not eliminate spending on Iraq... Congress just passed $70 BILLION for war spending, mostly for Iraq. Hmm...
The several attempts at time tables hidden inside the spending bills (which they knew would be veto'd) aren't helping the grade either.
What a wasteful term.

An incomplete. They are not really in power, since they have such a small edge over the Republicans. And George Bush and the Republicans are determined to let them accomplish as little as possible until they finish their terms. If you'd gone to the end of the first year the Republicans took over Congress, you wouldn't have seen any more accomplished. And Clinton was even willing to cooperate, which George Bush is not!

C - at least we got a discussion, some votes, and some investigations which is better than the rubber stamp and sweep it under the rug that we had before the dems took over.

I gave pelosi and reid an 'F' when they failed to realize that since they don't have the votes to over-ride a bush veto they're basically useless.

Well considering they really have no power to override a presidential veto, I can't really given them a grade.
If i could, it wouldn't be great though.
