x intercept(s) just means when does the function crosses the x-axis, or basically when y equals to 0.
f(x)=20x+17
0=20x+17
x=-17/20
the x intercept is -17/20

y intercept(s) just means when does the function crosses the y-axis, or when x is 0.
f(x)=20x+17
f(x)=17
the y intercept is 17

when x = 0, f(x) = f(0) = 20(0) + 17 = 17. that's your y-intercept.
when y = 0 = f(x) = 20x + 17, 20x = -17, x = -17/20. that's your x-intercept.
