Hi. I'm 41 and a mom, so I can tell you that the most important thing in my life is my daughter. If you really want to give her something that will mean the world to her, I can answer: time together. Ask her ahead what she wishes the two of you could do together if you stopped long enough to spend that time with her. She'll be able to tell you. It might be dinner and a movie. It might be going for a long walk. I bet she'd even pay as long as it meant real one-on-one time like you used to have together! Just make a coupon and put it in her stocking saying, "Special time together." something like that.
Next, don't feel shy. Ask her straight out! Tell her if she doesn't tell you, then you'll give her something she won't walk and she'll have to return it or live with it! Some people are more likely to answer if you put it that way. Does she like Bath and Body Works? If so, give her a $10 gift certificate. They're having a big clearance just a couple days after Christmas! So $10 will go a lot further!
One last thing to consider: Ask her if she would pose for a picture of just you and her. Go to Walmart or Kmart, somewhere like that, that offers pictures for under $10. She'll love it!
Good luck.

You know how crossword puzzles look? Make up one for your mom. Put in clues like her name, her favorite food, her favorite song, a movie you saw together. One of the clues could be, "Who's the best mom in the world" and then the answer could be her name. Put in the words "Love" and "Best" and link them all together like a regular crossword. Draw it by hand. Then give it to her, and I bet she'll really like it!

If you have a lot of photos of your mom with you and any sibligs you may have, make her a scrapbook or something that will always hold sentimental value to her, but not cost a ton of money.
