Well at that moment its almost like we dont notice it much, unless we actually pay attention to that fact that it is erect. This would be a great time to have morning sex since we are ready and always willing to go. Testosterone (male hormone) builds up in our bodies during sleep. This is what causes the large bulge in front of our pyjamas every morning.

When our penis is erect at any other time other than when we wake up, what is going on in our heads is sex. At that time we are fully aware that we are sexually aroused, horny and of course ready to go.

It's not necessarilly that he's been dreaming sexually dreams or anything like that, it just happens on it's own. It's called a Morning Glory or Morning Wood. But unexpected erections happen to guys a lot, usually younger due to hormones.

Men get erections every night, during REM sleep. (Any guy who doesn't has a medical problem.) "Morning wood" is part of that pattern - it doesn't come from anything the guy is thinking about.

One he's awake, though, he might think of things to do with the sunrise stiffie. Agreeable company can make it even more fun.

Nothing. It is a normal reaction in a healthy man! I am age 45 and this happens every night! If its just hard is is not thinking of anything. If it throbbs he is thinking of his mate!

My husband's does the same thing. He says it's becuase he has to pee. I think it's becuase he naturally wakes up ready for some action.

I've got to empty my bladder!

Sorry.. the morning erection is not a sexual response... it's a anti- wetting response... in-lieu of the proverbial nocturnal emission.

Nothing. Its called "morning wood". Like the name, its just because its morning. Just like you like to "rise and shine" in the morning, so does your husbands "jimmy".

It is because he has a full bladder. his penis gets hard to keep from urinating in his sleep. It has nothing to do with sex, it is physiological reason.
