Never understood about these "qualifications" for being able to run for president, I say do away with them all, let anybody run, I mean if Osama Bin Laden were able to run for president, is there like a real danger that we are going to elect him
One other thing, you do not have to be born in the United States, example, John Mcenroe, was born in Weisbaden Germany, where his dad was staioned in the air force, he can run for president.

Hmm... that's an interesting (theoretical) question.

My understanding is that, under current law, anyone can run... eligible or not.

The actual election would be by the electors, of course. However, in some states, the electors are legally bound to vote for whom they are told.

If a person inelgible for the office were selected by the Electoral College, then I think the 20th Amendment would kick in and the Vice President would take charge ("If a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified").

No, Congress does not have to amend the constitution at all. And I believe that running for U.S. presidency should be restricted only to US-born citizens. What is it with this nonsense that Rudy and McCain and several others that they are in favor of changing the law so that foreign-born citizens may run for president. What is up with that?

No one can run for President of the United States unless they are a citizen and they have to be at least thirty-five years old.

There will be no amending by anyone.

Merry Christmas.

No.

Our Constitution specifically says that the President must be native born.

There would be no reason for a foreign born, naturalized citizen to run.....he/she couldn't take office even if he/she won.

you have the backwards. You can't run unless you are an American born, 35 year old citizen. congress will never allow non citizens to be president, they can't even vote.

The constitution would need to be amended first, so it's a moot point.

Anyone voting for them, should be lined up in shot for treason, with the illegal candidate at the front of the line.
