AVG has poor detection rates. The free version does not come with the ewido engine that is part of the pro version. it doesn't shape up well against other free products, and should be avoided if you want to the best protection for your machine.
Don't take my word for any of this though, what Im telling you is not based on personal opinion. check out the comparisons here

Do a search for "free antivirus", AVG, Avira, Avast, Kaspersky (which I've heard good things about on here)...there are some out there, all you have to do is look. :)

When you sign up to sbc yahoo you get free yahoo when you get comcast you get free macafee when you a buy an XP (todays model) it comes with a Macafee the f***s up the computer (so i deleted it) and when you buy a vista you get free norton
