Try coin collecting. It doesn't have to cost you a lot. You can go to the bank and pick of a box of coin (whichever denomination you like) for exactly face value. A box of pennies is $25, a box of nickels is $100, a box of dimes is $250 and boxes of quarters or half dollars are $500. You don't have to buy the whole box. The bank can pull out whatever amount you like.

Once you get a box, you can go through and pull out the better coins (there are books to help with this or websites). You can pick up a coin album and try to fill all the holes (get one for each year) or just search for interesting ones.

The coins that you don't want can be returned to the bank and put straight back into your account (though it's often better to return the coins to a different bank (not just a different branch but a different bank) so that you don't search the same coins over and over). Everything you find will have been obtained at face value. You'd be surprised what people have found. Check out these links to see:

Also check your change for interesting finds.

Some things to search for: wheat pennies, silver dimes, silver quarters, old coins, error coins, coins with the "S" mintmark - it could be a proof coin etc. There's always the chance that you could find a real treasure!

It's also helpful to buy a red book. It can help you price your coins and will answer many of the questions you may have.

OR IF THAT'S NOT FOR YOU...

How about knitting or crocheting? There are some great podcasts on itunes about Men who Knit or Crochet. It is an inexpensive hobby to get started.

You can buy a DVD from Joann fabrics called Crochet Made Easy or Knitting Made Easy. Also there are a ton of websites that will teach you. www.lionbrandyarn.com and www.annniesattic.com and www.learntoknit.com and www.howtoknit.com these last two both have instrcutiosn and both knitting and crocheting. You can get extra help here after you get started. The folks here are more than hepful. Also, you could contact your local Senior Center and make a new friend while giving one of your local seniors something to look forward to...teaching a young person their craft and someone to chate with every other Tuesday or whatever you two decide. knitting and Crocheting historically were both done and maintained by men. It was not until later that women began to get involved. That was alwasy mens work traditiionally. it would be nice to be able to make your own sweaters or afghans or socks or whatever you choose!

I hope this helps! My husband is a fabulous crocheter! He learned as a boy. i am now teaching my youngest son to crochet. He is actually much better at it than his two older sisters! Boys and Men seem to pick it up faster. I do not know why it just seems to work out that way.

Good Luck with whatever new hobby you choose!

I'm 22 and I love card magic. I've been learning it for months now. Nowhere near perfect, but still practicing. It's the cheapest hobby, you just need a normal deck of playing cards.

I'm into guitar as well, but this is harder to learn, and you need to invest in a reasonable set of acoustic guitar.

Fishing...fresh water and salt water both offer differnt experiences as does the individual specie of fish. There are so many different intracacies involved that you learn something new with each experience...plus you'll always be tan which could help with the "girls" suggestion as well.

You could get into woodworking. You could make lots of cool things and then give them as gifts or keep them. You could make a shelf for your mom or cool toys for the children in your life.If you decide you enjoy it.You could then possibly get a job building stuff.Carpenters are so cool and masculine.:)

Model railroading. If you're into movie special effects ,you can build you own cities etc. Personally, I enjoy scenery building, with trains to add interest. It's not just for kids.
