i need help with this problem 4g + 5 - 2g = 17

4g + 5 - 2g = 17
2g + 5 = 17
2g = 17-5 = 12
g = 6

combine 4g and -2g:
2g+5=17
subtract 5 from both sides:
2g=12
divide by 2:
g=6

combine like terms 4g and -2g
add the opposite of 5 to both sides
isolate the variable by dividing
simple when you understand what you're doing, right?
