According to Reuter on Yahoo news of the 19th Dec. 2007, 3 "suspected terrorists" were released from a torture camp after being held for over 4 years and tortured, one was blinded from the beatings. They were never charged with anything so I assume they are innocent. These 3 men were British subjects and only after intervention by the British government were they released. I wonder how many more "terrorist suspects" are still held in the Guantanamo Torture Camp and how long they have been held without being charged and how many of these torture camps are scattered around the world.

This happened during Bush's term of office.

Joe B: When the democrats were in control there were no reports of torture and probably no "suspects" as well.

To switched off, No fricking way would I ever support terrorists, its the unnecessary torture of suspects, in this case innocent victims for years without even a word of regret or apology. The Bush governmenr lied and slaughtered 80,000 iraqi civilians and countless number of troops all this and for what?
Sources: Disgusted and fed up.

To Jay the diver, all I am asking for are similarities between the two, I take it that TORTURE is one and KILLING is another. Your excuse of using torture to gain information to save lives is absurd because nowadays they have truth drugs as well as lie detectors. The nazis killed 6 million and Bush republicans killed only 100,000. Who do you think should wake up ?

Yes! We are not quite to Hitler days, but we are slowly, but surely, losing rights. Our President is making decisions on his own with complete disregard for the American people therefore, shredding the Constitution to pieces. It's really strange that the US has prosecuted others as war criminals for waterboarding because it is against the Geneva Convention and now, we are doing it ourselves. The United States I live in and love should be above that. We need to practice what we preach. But just hang on because Bush is a short timer and I do believe we will have a different party as our new administration.

Sure there are similarities - ever seen GW Bush with his Chaplain mustache?

Come on - the Nazi's were responsible for the death of 6 million Jews, and up to 5 million other people (Catholics, non Aryan, political prisoners, homosexuals, mentally and physically handicapped, foriegn, etc). Their camps were not for interrogation, they were for slave labor, torture, and genocide. Tortured people were not released - they were gassed or burned alive. Shot if lucky. Hitler ran on a platform of national, racial, and religious superiority and won by duping a nation looking for a messiah after the first World War. If you want some other comparisons, even our own soldiers from WWII tortured people. It was practice that if there were Nazis who had some information that would save our people, the officer would, "go around the hill" so the men could get the information out of the SS guy or whoever had it.

There is a big difference between the forced and sometimes rough interrogation of men suspected of planning crimes against large portions of the citizens of this nation and the liquidation of 10 million people.

However, you have something in common with the Nazi party - the use of propoganda to try to gain favor for your very petty view.

The good of the many outweighs the good of the few - especially when those few want many of us dead. Think about that the next time an airliner is hijacked and dead children end up spilling across the tarmack of an airport. Stop being self righteous and wake up to reality.

Like The Gestapo. The Gestapo were a Political Police known for torture. The Head of The Gestapo in Lyon France by The Name of Klaus Barbie was called The Butcher Of Lyon. Ironic that today Barbie ref errs to Barbie dolls. Also like people during Witch Hunts. During these people were assumed guilty so accusation was enough to condemn a person to death. First torture then death. Reads like this ''Have you every been a witch do you know someone who has''. Then ''We know you are a witch you have been seenc onsorting with The Devil''. Replace Witches with terrorists,The Devil with Osama Bin Laden and there you are. Riding brooms are replaced with planning terrorist attacks, even thinking about them. Witch Hunts never end just start up under new guise. What stirs them up is the worry what somebody is plotting something evil then morphs into ''They are all around us they must be stopped''. Then the justification of harsh measure including torture to stop the perceived threat.

The similarity is definitely traumatic. yet much extra traumatic, in our 2-social gathering political device, is that the Democratic social gathering has an identical traumatic similarity to the two the Republicans and the Nazis. further and further presently, the classic acceptable/Left, Conservative/Liberal axis does not make experience. Politicians who would desire to be deadly political enemies as a replace artwork jointly like the main suitable of pals. yet once you upload yet another axis, call it Authoritarian/Libertarian, all of it all of sudden makes frightening experience. all of sudden the inexplicable similarity of objectives between acceptable and Left will become completely sparkling, through fact jointly as the politicians stand to the superb and Left of the middle, they're merely approximately uniformly pegged demanding to the Authoritarian end of the size. they don't seem to be political competitors, they're fellow travellers to an identical holiday spot. valuable, they disagree on which freedoms would desire to be taken away, yet they proportion the thought distinctive freedoms would desire to be abolished. Obama is extra in direction of the Authoritarian end of the axis than Bush became into, even nonetheless he's on the different end of the Conservative/Liberal axis than Bush became into. merely approximately each and every thing the Liberals screamed approximately whilst Bush did them, Obama has performed besides, and in many cases to larger extremes than Bush did. This isn't smart, in case you seem at the two one among them as political competitors/enemies. yet whilst they're merely fellow travellers, the two Authoritarians and government maximalists with comparable agendas, their movements in place of work make acceptable experience.

I'm not sure how you are relating this to the "Republican" government. Last time I checked the Democrats were in control of the Congress and Senate and despite them moaning and groaning about everything they must be allowing torture to continue because they are the party "in power"...at least that's what they keep telling everyone.

Gotta echo what Joe said, your glorious liberal democrats are in charge right now.

Oh, by the way, how do you justify the great and wonderful President Clinton and Madeline Albright turning their back on Rwanda? What, something like 800,000 dead?

No. Only those who want to overthrow the government would use this excuse. The Nazis murdered the Jews, I think that you'll find that many of the Republicans are Jews.
You appear to be a supporter of the current mid-eastern terrorists

Lol! I believe you make a very good point, and yes there are similarities definately.
George Bush is not as smart as Hitler though, his policies are like the first thing that came into his head and are total rubbish!! Hitler was a monster but he had more intelligence than Bush.

Both governments had a right wing policy based on world supremacy.
At least the Nazis had the guts to do their own torturing in their own country and were not in the habit of sub-contracting it to other territories.
