Gandhi. Gandhi was a peaceful protestor in India who led the Indians to freedom from the British. Never once did he or his followers use violence, which made the British look bad when they used violence on weaponless/defenseless people. MLK knew that this method was dangerous, but he realized that it was the only way to make a statement with a huge impact. He led numerous marches (like the one from Selma to Montgomery to gain the franchise for African-Americans) in which he used nonviolent resistance to overcome obstacles. Many were injured by gunshots and were refused admittance at hospitals, and 2 people were even killed. . .but he persevered and his followers did too to achieve the goal they had sought for so long--the franchise and civil rights for African-Americans.

MLK had a great admiration of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He learned the power of peaceful resistance from Gandhi.

The "homework help" section is for people who are stuck on a particular problem, not people who ask others to do all of their work for them. You've gone a bit overboard on this one- I never thought I'd be on of those "do your own homework"-style answer-ers, but c'mon, kid- take some responsibility here.

He had a great admiration for Ghandi and Christ, and based a lot of his non-violent methods on theirs.
