100 situps = 148 seconds
1 situp = 148seconds / 100 = 1.48 seconds

100situps = 163 seconds
1 situp = 163seconds / 100 = 1.63 seconds

hope this helps:D

Why not take it a step further and say you did 200 situps in 311 seconds (148+163).

Doing it the same way you divide the number of seconds by the number of situps.

So you did 311/200 = 1.555 seconds per situp.

Also if you want to know how many situps you can do in a second you can divide the number of situps by the number of seconds... 200/311 = aproximately 0.643 situps per second.

per basically means divided by... so seconds per situp is number of seconds divided by situps.

Going further if you set your goal to be say 100 situps in 2 minutes even that means you will have to do a situp every 120 seconds/ 100 = 1.2 seconds or 1.2 seconds per situp.

you use proportions to get the answer
100 situps / 148 seconds = 1 situp / x seconds
cross multiply to get
100x situps = 148 situps/second
divide both sides by 100
x = 1.48 seconds

do the same thing for your second problem
100 situps / 163 seconds = 1 situp / x seconds
100x situps = 163 situps/second
x = 1.63 seconds

in first case, it takes 1.48 seconds to do 1 situp
while in the second case, it takes 1.63 seconds to do 1 situp.

all u are doing is taking the average value of 1 situp by dividing the time by number of situps..
got it ??

you do 100 situps in 148 seconds, so:

100 SU = 148 SEC

if you divide both sides by 100,
youll get 1.48!
