Although there are many things that scientists don't know, mankind has a far greater understanding of the physical universe now than at any time in history. So, saying that people have believed certain things for thousands of years is a very weak argument. Large areas of magic and superstition are no longer believed by anyone. For example, no one believes that seeing a black dog when you are pregnant means you will have a male baby.

However, there are other areas e.g. telekinesis and telepathy that have large numbers of believers, with just as little evidence. It is not a lie -- it is just a lack of critical thinking, and a dose of wishful thinking.

There are any number of reasons from physics and biology for thinking that there are no "above-normal" mental powers. Our brains are spectacular organs that can accomplish unbelievable feats, but they cannot transcend the laws of physics and biology.

Many paranormal researchers are convinced It does exist and needs further study and belief varies between individual cultures. The term psychokinesis was invented by scientific researcher Doctor Rhine and describes ability to control and move objects by means of the mind only. Telekinesis is the term used by spiritualists to describe the occurrence during seances. But there are also fakes who con people by conjuring tricks. Overall there is some anecdotal evidence that it is definitely not a complete lie and the spoon bending of Yuri Geller in the U.K. has been authenticated as genuine.

There are plenty of folks who will say yes.I keep an open mind.Until I can find someone who can actually do it.Not a magic trick.I mean do it so everyone can see it's real. That shouldn't be too difficult. Not in this time of mass media.I have too say,so far it's a lie

edit.Sandy G don't be too sure about that black dog thing.

No, no lie. There are about 73 known psychic gifts or abilities ranging from apportation (moving things from one place to another by way of the astral planes) to xenoglossy (the Biblical "gift of tongues"). These abilities have been seen and recorded ever since writing has appeared and have been known by various people since Man has been around.

The fact that mainstream science doesn't acknowledge these abilities only goes to show how immature established science is, which is only about 300 years up to now. But as somebody once said, "If it happens, then it's possible" no matter what the scientific community says.

There is no conclusive scientific evidence of Psychokinesis or any other type of ESP. There as been countless trails and experiments and nothing has ever shown any evidence. For something like this to be possible it would completely go against all the physical laws of science as we understand them. Read about Illusion of Control and other theories of why people think of claim they can control things using only their mind.

Is it fake? What conclusion would you draw from something that is claimed to exist by many but demonstrated by none?

EDIT: That "73 known psychic gifts" post is a real hoot.

Here are some 'above normal' abilities people are talking about ever since they... learned how to talk:

Photokinesis
Pyrokinesis
Echokinesis
Thermokinesis
Telepathy
Telekinisis
Aerokinesis
Cryokinesis
Aquakinesis
Vitakinisis
Lunakinisis
Particle Manipulation
Bi-Location
Invisibility
Remote viewing

Many others, of course, believed to belong to the cerebral activity.
Each one strongly denied by 'science lovers' like you.

Have a look at these vids and decide for yourself:

[EDIT:]
Please be careful when being told by dudes like the one below me things like "There is no conclusive scientific evidence" with such a tone as if they know everything that's going on everywhere on this planet and if they haven't heard about stuff they rule there are no stuff.
Thank you.

Psychokinesis (PK) or moving things with your mind is a very controversial area of parapsychology. There is some experimental evidence that strongly suggest that this is possible. I have included several links for you below.

There are other parapsychological phenomena like ESP and Remote Viewing that have more convincing evidence. I have provided two links for you below.
