If you had to choose between naming your daughter Alaina (nickname "Lainey") or Evanna (nickname Eva, Evie, or Auna), which would you choose (and why)?
My husband and I haven't been able to decide!

I personally like Alaina or Lainey better. Only because when I first saw Evanna I thought of The Donald's X wife. It probably isn't the same, but that is what I thought. I do like Alaina. Cute!

I prefer just Lainey by itself. I like Alaina, but spelled as Elena. And I'm sorry but Evanna reminds me of a character in Austin Powers. It sounds so wrong... It sounds like Ivanna as in Ivanna Humpalot, as someone else said. The kid's gonna be scarred for life with that name. Others are gonna make fun of her.

I like Alaina alot better. Its very pretty. Whenever I hear Evanna I think of Ivanna Trump, even though its spelled different. I would choose Alaina.

I would go with Alaina. I can't really tell you why it's just that something about evanna strikes a discordonant note with me. I guess it would also depend on your last name. Some names just sound good with a first name. Like Sebastian Blackmon

I vote 100% for Alaina. It's a very romantic & feminine name. I also picked it because of the nickname "Lainey." My middle name is Ladane (sounds like La-dain) so I've been called Lainey and I love the name. Best Wishes & Congratulations!!

alaina because of lainey as the nickname. evanna sounds a bit too posh and could sound a bit evil..

alaina renee or nicole! sounds good huh!!? Lainey is such a cute name for a little girl. as is Lily, which it reminds me of, which is also super cute! and it also the name of this girl in tht movie She's All That . Such a good movie!! and also Evanna reminds me of the woman on austin powers, Ivanna ( i wanna) Humpalot. and people could make up names like tht for her.

Alaina is the best because it's beautiful to say, has an elegance to it, works well whether she's 8 years old or 80, and there's no way to mispronounce it.
Evanna is nice too, but only if it's pronounced "ee-VON-uh", because "ee-VAN-uh" doesn't have the same sophistication to it.
