I think the chances are very good the draft will be implemented in the next two years. If you are 16 years old or so, you can plan on a tour of the Middle East when you are 18. The nice part, you won't need a passport.

Well since Democratic Congressmen keep submitting draft bills.

But since the democrats already think the military is to large,

After all Clinton cut the military over 320,000 troops in the 1990's.

I don't see much purpose for a draft.

You only draft, when there are not enough volunteers.

A draft is not conscription.

Conscription is where everyone serves.

America has never had conscription.

Even during Vietnam, less than 10% of the eligible males were actually drafted.

Thats what makes it so funny about people complaining about deferments, they actually think that without a deferment, someone would have been drafted, when the chances were actually very small.

Neither Clinton nor Bush would have been drafted, based on thier birth date, no matter what they did.

Clinton would have had a draft number around 350 and Bush would have been around 325, when they never drafted anyone over 100.

Another draft at some indeterminate point in the future is highly likely; I would say it is a near certainty.

It's a simple mathematical formula. As long as there a non-zero chance for a draft to occur in any given year, at some point the odds will catch up, even if it takes thousands of years.

I hesitate to say " None at all" but the chance of the draft ever being reactivated is as close to "none" as you will ever get.
