No, you're not alone at all. We've collected or been given beautiful things over the years, but so far I've just brought out a few of them. Each year it seems like more and more of a chore. But who knows....there's still time and I just may go on a decorating spree this weekend! Even if I just put up our most treasured and favorites, I'm sure I'll feel better about it.

Yes I have...it happened a few years ago. I always hated putting up the tree (tiresome), then taking it down (depressing). Now I just put a wreath on the chimmney, garland on the fence and light post. I picked up THREE of those hand made ceramic Christmas trees with lights, for about five bucks each, at Tag Sales last summer. I have all three lit in dining room, family room and living room. The are so festive and no problem to put up and put away. We have also done away with the gift giving thingy. I hate malls and the cost of things. I give the kids money and they can do what they want. I don't need or wants any gifts either. I'd rather they just pick up their things without being asked. We do have good mvies to watch, a fireplace going and good pickens to eat all week end. You know, the stuff you would never buy regularly because of the price. It's a treat at Christmastime. I light candles for the Christmasey aroma. It is much more relaxing and fun and no work to exhaust me. I enjoy it all much better than all that commerical crap. Less is better...It feels right. Happy holiday.

There are years where I dread decorating for Christmas. Just like this year. I REALLY DIDN"T WANT TO DECORATE!! I decorate for my kids. I just put our tree up this week.. I started listing to Christmas music and it got me in the Spirit!! Now we have a Beautiful tree and a very lit up front porch. Try some Christmas Music!!

When our boys were young, I'd decorate inside and out. Now, it's just the wife and I. I have a tree in a box about 2 feet tall. It's still over there in the corner IN THE BOX. At least I took it out of the closet.
It really turned me off this year when decorations/trees were being stocked IN SEPTEMBER! I asked one clerk where I could find the VALENTINES DAY things. She asked, "You're joking, aren't you?" I told her I was serious that if they put out Christmas stuff in September, they should be putting out ALL the holiday stuff so we could get a jump on them.
I can be very sarcastic now that I'm an old fart.

So dont do it. Why do something simply because everyone else does or because its the "done thing".
If you dread doing it then DONT DO IT.

I have heard people expressing the same thing in the shops, on the radio, in conversations and on the internet.

If you( meaning those that say it), dont like it or dread it or couldnt be bothered or whatever then DONT DO IT.

I dont believe in a show for ONE day of the year. People talk about the Xmas spirit, well why confine it to one day of the year!!!

Comes and goes. I find if I don't start decorating at Thanksgiving (or earlier) I never seem to find the time. Christmas is next week and I don't have even a quarter of my stuff up yet.

Don't view decorating as an obligation, but rather something you do for yourself to cheer you up. Start with a couple of decorations and go from there.

Go with it. It won't hurt to miss a year or two. There will be different and new feelings next year. Don't force yourself.

I hate spending money during christmas, am I alone?

Yes. No I'm joking. I can understand where you are coming from, sometimes you just feel lazy, or you don't want to do it. Other times you aren't in the Christmasy mood. Thats fine though, and who knows, maybe next year you'll be the first one on the tree.
