Don't give the money to her directly. There isn't the proof that its for support and she could come back later and say that either you never gave it to her or that it was a gift. You need to have a support order done thru the county (or other municipality as your state mandates). You will likely be going to court and they will determine the amount you will owe on an ongoing basis as well as how much you may owe for back support. When the time comes to pay, you will need to pay the county and they will get the money to your ex and child. This way there is proof that you are doing your part to support your child. I applaud you wanting to take care of your responsibilities.
As for not paying taxes...I can't give any advise on this, but you may want to start doing so. If you aren't making all that much you probably wouldn't owe much anyway and its not worth risking going to prison over.
Good luck.

Well, if you cannot show an income at some point they may order you to find a job.
To avoid problems you should make sure that you go down and make the payments yourself every week on time so they don't come hunting you down.
If you don't pay then they will find you, they will throw your butt in jail and then you will have to answer to not paying support as well as having an income and not paying taxes.
It's just a deep deep hole.

They don't, what happens is, it builds up and when it hits a certain # you go to jail. Either that or you can go to the Department Of Child Support Enforcement and pay however much you are ordered every week. They then send the mother a check.

You can set up a payment schedule with your county child support enforcement agency. You pay them, and they send a check to the custodial parent. This serves two purposes, it makes you look good, as you are actively supporting your child, and if the custodial parent tries to pull the "I'm not getting any support" card you have a court record that payments are being made.

Dont quote me on this but I think getting paid under the table in the governments eyes is illegal, especially if you do not claim the money and pay taxes. You may want to search for a job that gives you a paycheck with taxes taken out.

If you get payed cash .. you still owe taxes whether you pay the taxes, or not.
If you have a Court Order to pay Child Support .. then Child Support continues on daily .. whether you pay your child support, or not pay it.
One day, you could be arrested if you do not pay your Child Support.
Your child needs your support.

They don't. You would have to send the payment in to them on your own, which I would advise as whatever amount that was specified will eventually be taken when you do have a job that involves regular payroll and tax deduction. And you will owe the back support so the amount may be quite substantial.
